Re: Why is Shimano still using long spool shafts?
Alignment and support makes sense for reels with infinity drive, but on the Metanium parts you see in the picture I took measurements of, there’s no way the pinion supports/touches the spool shaft in its entire length, only right at the little shoulder section I’ve marked, there’s only a 0.06mm diff...

Re: Why is Shimano still using long spool shafts?
My best guess is: difference is mostly on paper, not in real life. Due to the minimal diameter, the energy it takes to get the shaft spinning is probably not worth mentioning (vs. mass on the outer rim). I do see however it takes some extra machining and hence cost vs. a plastic shaft. Didn’t stop D...

Re: Major Craft Days 360
Imagine those blanks being really really nice and then there’s only those few models to choose from a series where finally „limited“ would actually make sense in the name

Re: Tsurinoya Dexterity Ⅱ C722UL
Also SAC868MH is Ajing rod acc. to Kuying, but in my opinion it's actually not. It's hollow top, and it's not Fast Action, it's Moderate Action. It's good boat rod for lightest Pike fishing and in my opinion also Ok for lightest seatrout fishing. (It might also work for jigging for Zander - in my o...

Re: Megabass 2023 Orochi X 10 rods
Shimano is using „biofibre“ for European marketed rods since what feels like forever. Easily 15 years. The info box in the catalog says it’s made from plants and adds shock resistance, lifting power and overall rigidity that makes lighter blanks. So pretty much the same like any other blank technolo...

Re: Problem with JDM reel.
I sent back an Alphas from Germany to Amazon Japan last year - had to pay DHL upfront (~50 bucks with insurance) but got it refunded to my credit card after providing the receipt and getting it approved as a warranty case. If I would’ve sent it back just because I changed my mind I would have had to...

2023 New Fuji Reel Seats
https://www.fujitackle.com/images/newproduct2023/fbcs_nhss_2023.pdf Looks very palmable, light (not much material) and there’s supposed to be some titanium in the hood-part. Just the length of the front looks like I have to get used to first, until now I never had that much going on in front of the ...

Re: 2023 Metanium 100
what's the big deal? It's just a new deeper spool option for the japanese market. Not a new reel. No official website said it was a new reel. The tag on the shimano page reads "update" on the same old 2020 Matanium product page. US/JDM spool sizes are the same. But the US model has a slightly longer...

Re: New Metanium??
Was on Digitaka website and noticed a Metanium 100 under Shimano reels with “New” labeled. The pic looks like the old 2020 Metanium. It’s called Metanium 100 ‘23, hg & xg models. Spool “kinda” looks deeper. Thing is the price is 48,000 yen, which is wayyyy more than the Metanium DC 🤔. I heard there...

Re: Do you plan on buying the iPhone of reels aka the Z Limitbreaker?
As I understand the website you can toggle between brake modes on the reel but you need to unlock those modes first via the app. So no app no additional brake modes except the default one. Google translate could be wrong tho.

Re: How do you set up your Alphas SV TW
Does anyone know if it would somehow be possible to get the Tatula 80 magnets into the Alphas?
Thanks to the different locking mechanisms the side plate assemblies don’t look alike.
