Re: Does a box matter to you?
It may not matter now, but on down the line the box makes a great deal of difference. Antique reel collectors generally figure the box and papers to be worth as much as the correct reel in the box. The older the reel gets, the more valuable the box becomes. Ultimately the reel being in its original ...

Re: outdated legendary tackle
maybe Purefishing will re-release the EON Pro with a shallow spool, dual braking, and CF bent handle with X-Mag knobs to further push the limits of what is possible with design and engineering  It's interesting that you bring up the Abu EON. The current issue of the Old Reel Collectors Ass...

Re: outdated legendary tackle
This thread is very humiliating. I knew that I was old, but now I've learned that my very nice and useful fishing tackle is outdated. I'm just hoping the fish don't find out.
In the mean time, please just send me your old and outdated TDZs.

Re: Knockoff Aluminum Steez
If you don't like black, you can get this pretty red and silver version. I've been fishing it for over a year and have had no problems. It is really a copy of the TDZ, not a Steez, made in aluminum and plastic. There are quite a few versions and colors available on eBay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/High...

Re: Knockoff Aluminum Steez
Ripping off the trade secrets and moves of a professional pole dancer (of foreign country of course) is one thing...but this is just unacceptable! :P You seem to forget that Daiwa's first casting reel (the Millionaire) was an exact copy - all parts interchangeable - of the Abu Ambassadeur 500...

Re: Winter river smallmouth....
The smallmouth in the Snake River moved to the winter locations several weeks ago. The water temps are in the low 40s. We have had success drop shotting tubes or other small baits. Here's some fish my wife and I caught a couple of weeks ago in about 10-15 feet of water. http://i1114.photobucket.com/...

Re: Eposeidon reels
You can purchase those reels, and many other similar reels, direct from other Chinese or Hong Kong dealers on eBay. I have been fishing many of those reels for a year or two. I fish 4-5 days a week and have found these reels to be perfectly satisfactory and they are nice looking. Sure they're not th...

Re: Have sub-7' rods become obsolete?
Anyone here wanting to dump their worthless, obsolete, quality, sub-7' rods for a song, just contact me.
Thank you.
An obsolete old geezer who still fishes 6-7' rods.
Forget that! At last count I already had 50-75 of them.

Re: What's this reel worth?
Eight years ago I paid $25 for a NIB/papers example for my collection. It was purchased on eBay. They are worth more now. There should be some collectors interested at this time. ABU is a very collectible brand. If you want to sell, eBay is your best bet, as collectors from all over the world will s...

Re: Rod Overboard!!!... Wow, it floats.
Mine floated perfectly horizontal or level. The reel was down, of course, but it looked like if a fish had hit the bait the rod would have gone on plane.the GLX/Revo Premier was floating, butt cap up, vertical in the water...unreal..

Rod Overboard!!!... Wow, it floats.
Last week I was fishing with a friend when I heard a clunk, crash and splash and immediately knew something had gone overboard. I raced to the side to grab whatever it was before it sank. And there floating quietly beside my boat was one of my favorite smallmouth outfits. A Fenwick Elite Tech Smallm...

I use an Owner weighted 3/0 screw lock hook, 1/16 oz (I believe). I have no problem with it spinning. It is a very good fish catcher for me.

Re: Japanese Screw Baits - "Nothin's New"
Sure there have been prop baits around for years and years, but spybaiting is not all about the lure.... its the tecnique that is used to fish it. Years ago you never seen anyone counting down a propbait and fishing it on 4-5lb fluoro. I guarantee no one was fishing a prop bait 100 years ago using ...
