Re: Aftermarket spool bearings
How hard is it to lube up spool bearings? Do you have to pull them out of the reel everytime? No, just make sure your oil is in a container with a blunt tipped needle and put a drop either over the cage of the bearing if unshielded, or right on the thin crack between the inner race and the shield f...

Re: Aftermarket spool bearings
Hmmm, so we are saying that the ZPI and H.H. bearings are smoother and quieter than the Boca's, but both the ZPI and H.H. come from the factory oiled and at least 1 requires oil. One of the things I have heard/seen discussed here is that there is no reason to purchase a ceramic bearing if you are t...

Re: Some spool and bearing questions
Problem is, super fast spool bearings + an uncontrolled thumb + a hard cast = a hot mess. I find the SV 1012 spool in a TDZ with the brakes set to 1 or 2 will give me plenty of distance with light or heavy baits, and little to no thumbing required till splash down. That's my cup of tea. Others may ...

Some spool and bearing questions
Just got a sweet deal on my first Td-z. Looking at hedgehog air HD or Bocas abec 7 bearings. I'm going to put 14-17lb mono and just use the reel to bomb topwaters. I like heavier poppers 3/8oz and sammys. Curious what people think about spool options. Also, thinking about upgrading the bearings on m...

Re: JDM Heavy Flip/Pitch & Punching Rod
I have Megabass Faust 1/2-2oz reg taper. It's only 7'3" but I feel like it improves accuracy and the regular taper would help for moving baits.

Re: St. Croix Avid X 68MXF vs. 69MLXF
*68MXF. It's a bad ass stick. Sensitive and strong. I yank a ton of river smallies with it, it's light enough for split shots and live bait. I can boss some footballs around with it too.

I have the avid 68MF. Love the rod, mostly throw senkos and flukes with it. I'll drop shot from time to time works great.. I can't compare to the ML, but I Don't think I will ever fish a ML rod for bass.

The 7'1'' MF would be more versatile, longer casting and play fish better. Xf lends itself to contact baits.

... very jealous. Elegant and eclectic taste man, probably the sickest combo I have seen posted. I hope you do some pitching with it.

Re: Megabass got me good
Really nice combos! As far as MB reels you can't you wrong with an IS which is the steez platform. Zonda (alphas) I prefer for lighter finesse presentations. For heavier presentations or cranking power i'd say IP (zillion) or FX (t3). That's not even getting into the round reels. Just my opinion of...

Re: Technique Specific Suffocation
I am sort of new to enthusiasts tackle. I have a 16'5 aluminum (walleye) boat, not a ton of deck space for rods or storage. I have a MB f51/2 xti for tubes and smaller cranks, a MB Faust for punching and frogging, and I'm looking at a H action JDM style rod for 3/8 -1/2Oz jigs, t-rigs smaller swim b...
