Re: Chronarch 100D7 Noise
Hmm. I'll have to measure the ID of the lower pinion bearing vs the OD of the pinion lower where it makes contact, see what's the slop. Otherwise if it is that - I'll have to sweat some silver onto the surface as we don't have any available gear sets in Australia and ordering from OS is cost prohibi...

Re: Chronarch 100D7 Noise
Do the video again but put your thumb on the spool with light pressure while winding and go from slow to fast and back to slow again if it makes sense. My D7 also has a weird raspy feeling and noise that I can either put down to the friction access control keyway lock on the left hand side of the sp...

Re: Clacutta te 201 vs te 201gt
The GT was the XT in Australia, I've got the 50, 100 and 200XT.
The GT models 50 through 250 were just ported to reduce weight but invertibly the same Calcutta as the B series (bar the aluminium handle shafts if I remember correctly).
The TE's were a nice reel, cancelled way too soon.

Re: To Spiral Or Not to Spiral... what is your preference?
We would love to see a video of the casting performance afterwards. Should be entertaining. ;-) Casting performance could be put out by so many factors, however rebuilt the rod and completely forgot about it (Zig Zag) however can see the constant contact with line and rod benefit - casting shouldn'...

Re: Saltwater safe baitcaster
Bates reels made here in Texas are starting to draw a lot of interest. Look to be an amazing reel that will last in salt also. Bate's Hundo 5oz is what i'm eyeing next. Not sure why they chose 6061 T6 billet as their choice for the frame? I'm not knowledgeable enough to know why theT6 hardened vari...

Re: Spinning Reel Cleaning
Pull everything down to its smallest part and deep clean everything - bearings get soaked in degreaser and brushed to agitate any caked grease from the years.
Anything less isn't a service but a wipe and oil / lube job, and there are a lot of guys doing this calling it a service which it's not.

Re: Saltwater safe baitcaster
Nothing is "saltwater safe", but a proper pre-service will help with lubricants being in the right places, and if you get the right guy the internal frame and gearbox will be coated with lanolin or a water resistant grease. Saltwater safe... Is a poor marketing term used for reels like the MG castin...

If you've got a Dremel and some old bathroom tweezers - bend the tips and shape to requirement.

Re: Do the Shimano FL and FM Stradics come with folding handles?
No but you could try a FJ handle? I'll have a look at compatibility when I get home this afternoon. Edit: did some handle swapping and took some pictures for you on my IG, I can't post pictures to here anymore for some reason? Or DM me and I'll email them to you. https://instagram.com/andrew_slazmo?...

Re: Third generation Tatula is coming next month
The contours actually look good, plenty of pics on IG...
Wish they'd drop the Tatula namesake though.
