Re: UL Bassing

Yeah ill have to dig the pic of the carp up, it's on one of my phone sd cards somewhere. Most of my ul learning came from when i lived up in Michigan. The lake i fished was one of the type of lakes the when you set the hook you never really knew what you would pull in. Could be a bass, perch, crappi...

Re: Bfs, Centrifugal or Mag ?

I've taken the no brake system at all approach (vbs isn't installed at all) and have used different viscosity bearing oils to get "cast control"... Works surprisingly well, while an educated thumb is needed i can cast 1/8oz no problem even into a direct headwind and am getting about 25-30 feet with ...

Yep the Aussie, i'm jealous of all the bfs gear you guys get on the other side of the pond... Here people seem to think they need 80 lb braid for everything... Nice vids btw.

Re: Best Baitcasting Reels for both Salt- and Freshwater Fis

"Best" will end up being a buch of opinions so here you go. Shimano is my pic of the litter. They have a rep for taking a beating and the new curado is an impressive reel. Much more refined than the e or g series, its almost daiwa refinement with shimano buttery smoothness, win win. Plus shimano is ...

Re: Casting Help!

When i was getting used to daiwa mag brakes switching from an aerodynamic plug to something more wind resistant i changed the way I cast and go into more of a slow roll cast and loaded the rod less. That way the bait wouldn't start off fast and slow down quickly in the wind and i'd get less spaghett...

Re: UL Bassing

Man all of these updates is giving me the itch to go hit the pond. I too use a st croix UL, mine is the 6' avid with a 500 size sedona. And with 4lb P-line to boot. Lately I've been getting em of a 1/16th oz rooster tail and a 1/16 oz 2 inch pins minnow. The normal catch rate is about 5-8 per hour, ...

1-minus series is my favorite for shallow runners. I use em all, tiny, baby, mid and full size and they all work wonderfully.

Re: UL only?

Just wondering, Any of you guys use rods with Tennessee handles? Are they with trying? Back when I started ultralight fishing most of the UL rods i saw had tennessee handles. The original quantum micro glass rods were tennessee style and i felt everything through those. Even a 1/24oz rooster tail h...

Re: <$200 Casting reel. What's urs?

I choose the curado because I do not own any of the other reels and I think that the svs infinty and x ship are great features and really put the curado ahead of the pack. However I have not fished any of the other reels so I could be wrong. Whatever they call the setup in the tatula R makes it com...

Re: Matching all rounder spinning reel with jade python

Take a look at the certate. I think they are super quality for the money as compared to the more expensive stella. This... Japan lure shop has them for around $320, and if your feeling like dropping stella $$$ they have the exist for mid $600s depending on model. I love shimanos as well but on a me...
