Re: Bantam MGL Who has their hands on one?

Finally got mine in. I added one bearing to each knob and a bearing to the worm gear. It feels super solid. Its smaller than the chronarch but just by a smidge. Its mainly just shorter. The 84mm on the hg seems right at home on this reel. (I am a fan of the 90mm). The spool access side plate is ver...

Re: Bantam MGL Who has their hands on one?

For 70$ more they've asked for the Bantam vs Chronorach they could at least put 1 bearing more, not take one from one place and put in another place... Can the Chronarch be tuned with a bearing on the spool like the Bantam? The way the frame is constructed on the new Chronarch, it looks like their ...

Re: Bantam MGL Who has their hands on one?

Configuring it the way the Bantam is, it essentially turns it into Daiwa's version of the free floating spool, but with the spool shaft that goes through the reel. The spool bearings during the cast are in the same place that Daiwa's free floating spool is. Which is better? I prefer the longer spool...

Re: Bantam MGL Who has their hands on one?

The idea is: Chronarch 8+1 Bantam 8+1 Ok...but...if the Bantam has Silent Tune with that bearing on the spool (and the.Chronarch doesnt has it), where does the Bantam has one bearing minus?  I compared both schematics, and have solved this bearing search everyone is talking about (I thi...

Re: Bantam MGL Who has their hands on one?

Anybody else find it interesting that it looks like there is a screw at the end of the crankshaft and wormshaft? Did they do way with the C clips? Yes, I see that, I'm curious how the worm gear is configured with the one piece frame and side plate, like how would you access it, you know? Also, why ...

Re: Bantam MGL Who has their hands on one?

https://i.imgur.com/LRePrme.jpg You are the greatest!!! I saw one faintly on a youtube video and was pretty sure of what you posted, its just Shimano's new standard design. Now the only odd thing is why did all of the US retailers say it only has 8 total bearings??? Also the JDM catalogue with the ...

Re: Bantam mgl usa vs. Japan

Looking at videos on You Tube, it looks like the reel has the cone shape line guide. Thats actually a great feature - stupid that most other casting reels dont have / come with that profiled line guide... Hate to say it coming from a Daiwa guy, but you get 95% of the advantages of a T-Wing from tha...

Re: Bantam mgl usa vs. Japan

It is a cone shaped line guide, it looks to be more like the new Antares then the old Aldebaran/core line guides.

Re: Bantam MGL Who has their hands on one?

I think the Bantam is great, but if they are removing key bearings, and not giving any real light lure casting advantages, I don't see why (for me at least) the Chronarch MGL wouldn't be better. The 3 biggest bass I have ever caught have been on a Stradic Ci4+FA (2 fish) and a junker tiny 500 size ...

Re: Under Spin 101

I agree with most, it is a go to lure for me. I have caught more fish on an underspin the last two years than any other lure I have. I use a 3/8 scrounger head underspin with a 4.8" keitech swimbait and the thing produces every time I use it. The scrounger head has a rubber piece on the head and giv...
