I agree, the hooks aren't that tough. But the design is quite good.

Yup, in the right conditions this lure can catch some good fish. I personally think it works better in colder seasons (when comparing to other lures). Maybe Zander should give it another try once it cools down.

I hope Daiwa comes out with the Super Finesse Tuning Spool kit like they used to have for the previous generation Luvias.

Where have you been? There are plenty of diehard Daiwa fans here that don't have any problems with plastic sideplates. I personally like Shimano, but not just because they make all metal reels (except a few smaller parts).

I didn't read through the other replies, but did you consider the Core/Mg7? I've got the Mg7, and it's my favorite for pitching. If you're worried about the drag slipping when you set the hook, the Mg7 can lock down the drag pretty well.

I would guess it's something like new, mint, and used?
