Re: Curado G series? Fair shake?
I like the E series Curados. I own the E5, E7, E50. Yet for rigidity, I prefer the Curado D....no doubt the result of the heavier build, a whopping 10 oz. I fish 'em all. Don't see a G as an upgrade for me, and the Core is more than I need. I don't always understand Japanese company strategies, ie N...

Re: Ideal action rod for jerk bait
I mostly throw suspending jerkbaits in the winter, ie Ito Vision 110 or Smithwick Rogue. The rod I prefer is an Airrus CoMatrix 6' 6" MH XF. I jerk the rod from a vertical position. IMHO, this technique requires a little muscle memory on my part, so familiarity with one rod helps (never been conside...

Re: What is thr monetary value of your fishing collection?
To support a three year adventure fishing low-level T's I threw quite a bit of money at tackle. I didn't know yet that the most important thing is to know how to find the fish. Now I look at my excess and wonder "What was I thinking?" Eventually I will pare it down to 5-6 rigs, but not until...

Re: I just realized!
Well, I can relate. My 20' Skeeter is crammed full of tackle, and I still have 16 plastic shoeboxes full of plastic baits; several wallets of jigs, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, chatterbaits. Before I learn how to use my fancy Lowrance HDS-10/SSI electronics they announce the GEN 2 versions. Alabama/umbr...

Re: Post Your weirdest catch ever
Was dragging a jig near some boathouses and snagged a large, recently expired beaver. Not a bass fishing trip, but decades ago we caught a stingray on a trotline pretty far up the Trinity River (TX).

Re: If you could use only ONE brand of hardbait...
Sometimes they don't want a LC, but go for a Spro Little John. Of course got to have my Megabass ITO Vision and Smithfield suspending Rogues, Excalibur, Strike King, Koppers and many others. I probably have 100 hardbaits, and not many ever see the water. Fall crankbait bite may change that!

Re: Curado 200g
I have 4 200E reels and 1 50E. No complaints from me, yet I find the 200D5 smoother than the 200E, possibly because of rigidity provided by the extra 1+ ounce of metal. (All have ceramic spool bearings.) I see no compelling reason to even try a G model considering the "de-contenting".

Re: Drop Shotting
I don't use a swivel cause my main line is 10 lb. braid with a 20' FC leader. I haven't done enough dropshotting to notice any problems yet, but Gary Yamamoto recommends the same setup.

Re: The Search for ONE
Yep...the search never ends, but it has slowed me down. The record heat and low lake levels have really shut my fishing down. I do want to install the Navionics Lake Map app on my iPhone for the shared stump hazard info fishermen are contributing. Fork is really dangerous right now!

Re: Lure Retrievers
I made my own. Take a 4 oz. disk weight and dip it twice in tool handle plastic dip. Attach a snap swivel to ride on the fishing line. Tie some nylon cord on the weight and you're good to go. I made some for buddies, too.

Re: Mend It
The bottle design was changed after the original unit quickly lost its volatile component. Mine was replaced at no charge and still has the same volume as new.

Re: Braid to Fluro Knot
That's the 3rd different version of the Slim Beauty knot I have seen. Other two don't double the line, and one takes the braid back thru the figure eight (which is a single overhand knot).

Re: Hot Weather Storage Question
spenserinstl....coffee grounds, huh? Never heard of that for absorbing odors. I have tried putting my shoeboxes in large storage tubs, but stink still got out. Thanks for the suggestion.....might give it a try.
