Abu spinning worth a look?
I'm looking at getting a sub $200 spinning reel and am just curious if the newer Abus are somewhat equal to their Daiwa and Shimano counterparts. I 'm going to get a shallow spooled 2500 sized reel. I currently have a 2506 Luvias, but I am really wanting to try something new on another rod- Should I...

Re: Heavy duty/Big Alabama rig
For years umbrella rigs were beefy wire and large jigs used for stripers, so I'd be looking into a striper umbrella rig, not the smaller, lighter "Bama rigs.

Re: No Shimano, No Daiwa
I'd probably try some Lews and 13 reels out and hope they don't have all the issues Revo's have.
Without Shimano and Daiwa there would be zero innovation in the reel market.

Re: Spy baits who's using them, and what brands?
I've tried the Duo 80, 90 and G-Fix 80's, Lucky Craft 80's and the new Storm Arashi. Without a doubt I like the Duo baits the best. They seem to have a shimmy on retrieve that the others do not. Around here I have had some decent days in cold water catching largemouth and crappie on them, but the la...

Re: Suggestions for a enthusiast crankbait rod?
Not sure if it would be considered enthusiast level gear, but Kistler Feel n Reel rods are the real deal.
Incredibly light for a hybrid glass/graphite rod and it may sound corny, but I love the Ugly Stik looking clear glass tip.

Re: Curators 300ej
Quite sure those do not have any form of braking except spool tension, so they aren't designed to be cast. They have brakes just like every other curado E. https://fishshop.shimano.com/media/fishing/SAC/exploded_views/CU300EJ_v1_m56577569830817771.jpg By golly they do! I though that was the jigging...

Re: Medium to Deep Cranking Rod Suggestions, 3/8 - 1 1/2oz range
Check out the Kistler Feel n Reel rods. I have the 7'6"H and it is a light (4.4oz) and powerful rod. Loads, launches and fights like a pure glass rod but has lots of grunt in the lower half of the rod. I love glass rods and have never been a fan of a composites until this one. I'm throwing 5/8 trap...

I have a '12 Luvias 2506H and love it. Light, smooth and no fuss for the couple years I have owned it.Frosty wrote:Anyone have the Luvias? And how do you feel about it? does it hold up

NFC blanks I suppose? I know the some of the Helium 3's are available in extra fast actions.
I wish they had them on their website. I'd like to check them out.

Re: ML Spinning Reel Opinions
Personally, I'd stick with Daiwa or Shimano and possibly look into a shallow spooled reel. There are a BUNCH of JDM options not available in the USDM. Check out all the different models and specs on Digitaka.com. If you're looking at light weight reels, the Stradic CI4+ or Luvias would be good choic...
