Re: Crankbaits and seasonal changes
There's no hard and fast rule on when the use flat V fat. I catch fish all year long on the spro Little John and it's a flat side crank, but I'll also wear them out in the late fall into the first week of December on a Lucky Craft SKT Mini MR, that's a round bodied crank. Just see what works best fo...

Re: Hydrowave
I've seen them do some amazing stuff and I've seen them have no affect on fish. I can actually pull active fish into casting range or activate fish I see on the bottom with my sonar. On the other hand, I've been in shallow coves that I know held fish and not caught any more than I normally expected....

Carolina rig it with a long leader on the light side, say 10-12lb test, and if you think you're fishing it too slow you're not fishing it slow enough. It's my all time favorite "West Texas Drift" bait.

Re: SPRO LITTLE JOHNS AND BIG JOHNS PROBLEMS
I have 20+ little johns, little john (MD) and Fat Johns. Have not yet had any issues with them. Same here. I can't tell you how many I've gone through over the past 2-3 years and I've only had one Fat John that I had to spend more than 3-4 casts tuning. Other than that they've been flawless. I some...

Re: Favorite lipless crankbait retrieve
I rip the hell out of them. Cast out and count it down. Rip, rip, fall on tight line, rip, fall, rip, rip, fall, rip. The strikes are pretty violent. It helps to use your reeling hand to grab your rod about 8-10in above the fore grip and really get the bait to jump up.

Looking for this fishing shirt
A while back I was cruising around on here and followed a link to someone (from California?)'s blog about bass fishing. From there he linked to a company that does bass fishing shirts with old skater shirt designs. They had a Run DMC logo shirt that instead read "RIPN LIPS" and one that was blocked ...

Re: Why can't there be advanced rod sensitivity testing?
I'm almost positive you could use a seismograph and use something to create a "tap" on the rod that is measured. Something like a blast of compressed air. Correlated the amount of pressure blasted on the rod to the amount of vibration read by the seismograph. If not a blast of air that could be done...

If those LMB grew to 100lbs and was twice as tough, Larry Dahlberg would do it! Hell...I know of a lot of guys that would sign up for that gig. 100lbs and twice as tough? Try 250 and just as mean. I present to you the Nile Perch. Looks very similiar to LMB but they get enormous and are very aggress...

Sweet looking setup. That's the exact setup I'm about to get. The monkey has been fed for the moment as far as baits go, but I'm aching for a Wake Jr.

Re: Wave Tiki Stick vs. Yamamoto Senko
It's all about the wiggle. I voted Senko. I was fortunate enough to work managing the big fish tanks at the BPS in Grapevine. I spent a lot of time watching demos and playing with baits on my own. The GYCB Senko has to be soft to allow it to wiggle so consistently. It may vary in frequency (speed of...

I don't want to say glass is the only way to go, but it's the only way I go. I have the 703cb which I use for mid-deep to super deep divers and it's made a huge difference for my confidence in fishing crankbaits. You don't have the sensitivity of graphite blanks, but the loss is minimal. The power b...

Re: caught without my "A-Game" - today's adventure
Big fish are a lot like big people or other mammals. They can create an amazing amount of energy in their initial burst which can put you down in a hurry if no matter how well prepared you are. Working with fish, seeing them move and hunt on a daily basis, it really makes you appreciate how powerful...

I've been on Amistad, Rayburn, T-Bend and Falcon in bad weather. The funny thing is, only Amistad is close Tawakoni in bad wind. I don't know what it is about that lake with the way it's laid out, but Tawakoni in east Texas is just crazy dangerous. You get some 5-6ft rollers going pretty easy and th...

Re: Stren and Berkley one in the same?
Sometimes they degrade, sometimes they upgrade. They can force innovation, by bringing an old brand up to speed (Abu Revo) - or they can stagnate innovation when one company holds a lion's share of the market and chooses to produce the same product repeatedly to make a product instead of investing i...
