Re: Swimbait suggestions

Castaic Premium Bluegill - around $15
Bass Pro Shops XPS Swimbait - $1.99 if you can find them
Basstrix Tube Swimbait - $10 if you can find them anywhere, otherwise they're $40+ on eBay.

That's at least what I plan on throwing down there.

Swimbait Dilemna

So I picked up a bunch of Castaic 6" sunfish today and decided to go play with them at a pond by the house. Wasn't expecting much, just wanted to see how they felt and see what retrieves I could use. Well, turns out they are amazing. I fish that pond somewhat regularly and catch some decent fish, bu...

Re: Palomar to Palomar?

Actually, for me, the best knot for braid to fluoro has been a Trilene to Trilene knot. Nice and simple, great holding power.

Re: Noticing something

It's just people wanting to trade up for something new. I may swap my STX for a Premiere when they come out and I'll definitely swap my 50mg for a Core whenever they hit the shelves.

Re: New Shimanos @ El Salto...

I'll find out when we'll be getting them at Sportsman's Warhouse. Looks like I'll definitely be getting that Core, only question is if it will come in a 50 size.

All I will say about the blurred pictures is this; Z free is the way to be.

Yes it's called the Core.
Does it come in a 50 size?

Re: size of braid?

15 or 20lb braid will be fine. BE warned though, there is a bit of a break in period with braid. After a day of fishing it will limber up, but at first it is a bit wirey.

Re: How to coax bass keyed in on sunfish...

Castaic makes a soft plastic bluegill. That action is really amazing. I played with the big bass in the tanks at BPS with it. They were all OVER it.... I sold myself on it and bought 3. My biggest on it is only 6, but I haven't fished it that hard and heavy yet. http://rs.tacklewarehouse.com/tac/Pro...

Re: anybody using all star titanium rod?

They're actually really nice rods. I play with them at work sometimes. I've always had a soft spot for the company since it started in Houston. Looks to be quality stuff and that extra fast tip feels pretty nice, but I've yet to string one up and see what lures feel like on it. Someone should speak ...

My favorite name was "Mescaline Drive" and "Mekong Delta" - Gotta love their naming schemes.

On a side note, that boat on the bottom of the page still haunts my dreams. I want it. Bad.

Has anyone seen the Advantage HSTA online yet? I've heard they're in a few stores, but no luck online.

Re: so many new Loomis rods for sale - why?

Here's another possibility, but rods have an INCREDIBLE mark up. Across the board, rods are where tackle store make a large chunk of change. It doesn't really cost a whole lot more to make a Loomis than it does a St.Croix Triumph. If someone worked in sporting goods or worked in a business where the...

Re: Looking for a certain spinnerbait?

You can email Eric directly from Heavycover.com and request a different tie on yours. Info@heavycover.com - If you've never tried his baits, they're really awesome because you build the bait online, he ties it in his garage and ships out straight to you. They're very cool and very good baits.
