Re: 2020 TP 3000MHG vs 2013 Certate 2510R-PE

I also need help to figure out what Shimano size matches closely to Daiwa's pre-LT 2500 spool diameter. FWIW, the current Daiwa 3000LT is close to the Real Four 2500 spool size. Pre LT Daiwa reels the 3000 size was close to a 4000 size Shimano. A pre LT 2500 the closest Shimano size is the 3000. Th...

Re: Zillion HLC drag slipping

I just saw an article on how you should actually lightly grease your carbontex washers, btw. Now I’m firmly in the “what the hell do I know, don’t listen to me!” camp :) I service reels and have done countless carbontex conversions and grease every single carbontex washer and have not had this issu...

Re: Steez Ct Sv drag washers.

same as the steez A, the main culprit for the jerky drag is the washer under the main gear Does this hold true for other Daiwa reels? I have an Alphas CT SV that's a bit hurky jerky under moderate to heavy drag pressure, smoother with light drag settings...should I swap the washer under main gear t...

Re: Daiwa Tatula 300/400 Review?

The 300 is the bee's knees! That said, make sure you need the capacity and power. It is an 11oz reel and you feel every bit of it. For me, bass fishing with it was overkill. Barramundi look like a blast and could put up a fight worthy of the reel though. After a bit more looking I think The Steez A...

Re: Bad tackle thread (what to avoid)

here's one. Gliss Polyethylene line. its super fine , slick and casts well and was a very promising line but after a few months the stuff just starts to randomly break, happened to me on multiple line strengths after I had changed most of my reels over to it. I wasn't the only one, A friend was usin...

Re: Daiwa Steez (New HLC) impressions

Magforce Z boost is a great spool in my opinion. Only paired with the PE Special yet and nothing to complain about, tried with 1oz- 2oz swimbait and casts a mile. Spring is very strong and overall would say behaves more or less like the HLC spool. I will try to use it with the Zillion HLC and IP68 ...

Re: So what happened to Major Craft?

Major Craft Days series are made in Vietnam, some previous models were made in China. Vietnam has been their manufacturing base for quite some time.
Major craft also makes rods for FEED in the South East Asian market.

Re: Daiwa Tatula 300/400 Review?

Daiwa doesnt include the antireverse bearing in their bearing count usually. i have seen a tare down video and it does indeed have the second bearing on the pinion

Re: Why do people fish such heavy breaking strain lines when targeting bass?

its an eye opener the way we use lines differently for different fish. Over here in the land downunder when chasing Barra 30lb braid is the norm with 40 to 80lb shock leader of mono or fluro . A rod length of mono leader will give a surprising amount of stretch to eliminate the no stretch braid issu...

Re: So what happened to Major Craft?

It looks like they have focused mainly on the saltwater market now. I've had many emails with their overseas division manager and they said they would be expanding their bass lineup again starting this year but I've yet to see anything. Right now the days line is their nicest bass rod and while I r...

Daiwa Tatula 300/400 Review?

Hi , I am looking for reviews on the Tatula 300 I am looking for a larger capacity reel for inshore use and also for swimbaits up to 2 ounces for Barramundi in the rivers, So far what i have seen about the reel has been positive , I like the fact they have gone back to dual bearing supported pinion ...

Re: Steez Ct Sv drag washers.

Try smoothdrag in the USA for your carbontex supplies. I get it from an Aussie supplier that I am sure gets it from there. Heres a bit of trivia for you. Carbontex and Penn HT100 drag material was originally developed in by the late Jack Erskine in Australia whom sold the rights to it to Smoothdrag....

Re: Steez Ct Sv drag washers.

I use the 1mm thick carbontex for both washers. Only when replacing drags in the likes of the OG zillions with a multidisc drag do I use the 0.5mm carbontex. There has been the odd reel where 0.65mm or 0.8mm has been used but these usually not from one of the big manufacturers. Even rarer have I use...
