Re: Daiwa Lexa LT

after this thread, i got to checking these reels out and like the cosmetics. i'm really tired of the blacked out scheme. i'm looking for a new spinning reel, and will be using straight fc. i've tried to get on the braid/leader bandwagon, but it just doesn't work for me. would line management be bet...

Re: What’s the name of this knot?

My initial thought is that it's actually due to how part of the knot ends up being against where the eye of the hook is rolled to touch itself, and if the end of the wire is rough at all, it's prone to cutting the line and it seems like a weak knot strength. Not sure much could be done about that i...

Re: What’s the name of this knot?

https://youtu.be/t-XhKBlMnZ8 Also, has anybody used it before? Don't know if I've ever seen an official name for this knot, but I started using it a while back. Super fast/easy to tie with light line and the hook always stands out perfectly straight. With other knots I'd find myself adjusting or re...

Love this thread. It's refreshing to see the whole journey instead of just the highlight reels that dominate social media. Excellent pics (and gear)!

Re: Daiwa Lexa LT

I received my 2500 in the mail today. First impressions are its a nice reel for the price. Seems very well built with a light smooth retrieve plus it looks pretty sharp with the silver and black color scheme. I was looking for a reel for light saltwater use (because my friends keep bugging me to go...

Re: Jbraid grand issues

I was curious about x8 Grand so I did a search, these are the two best posts I found  The J braid Grand is a far cry from the loose weave of original PP super slick. That line was a nightmare. I remember a hangnail unraveled 2 feet of the PP SS...I'd say Grand is a touch, a hair, fluffier than ...

Re: Daiwa Lexa LT

Ha! Just looked at the Daiwa Japan site and noticed that the shallow spool versions make their debut in September, which explains why I could only find them on plat.co.jp. I may snatch up a 3000S-CXH once they are actually available, there is an itch in my brain won't let me pass up a perfect match ...

Daiwa Lexa LT

I'm researching options for a hair jig and spybait combo - long rod, very light line. I'm thinking a 2500 or 3000 size will balance out a longer rod better than a 1000 size reel but I'd rather avoid the guesswork of spooling up a ton of backing to leave the right capacity for 6 lb braid, so I've bee...

Re: Ned head shattered my Expride...

What rotten luck! It's amazing how fast a bait can come back at you in that situation. I'd be surprised if you're unable to use the Shimano replacement program.

I've never tried this, but you could always give the Tackle Warehouse reel demo program a shot if you want to compare a couple of reels side by side.

Re: Need new casting reel within a month, what to do?

If you want a workhorse reel with brass gears the Curado K is pretty solid. If the deeper spool is a turnoff and you're not planning on using super heavy line consider the Curado 70. Over the last few years I've purchased a 200IH, 70HG, and 200KXG and have yet to pay more than 60% of MSRP. Haven't l...

If "CT" is in trend now, then let Zillion CT SV be released. :D
It’s a com’in... though may not be available till end of year
With iCast just a few days away I'm surprised there aren't pics floating around by now, can't wait to see specs!
