Re: Native's smaller Titan: the 10.5

Well, the 10.5 is a real price bargain, I think. Anyone buying a higher end pedal kayak knows that after your purchase, it isn't uncommon to spend another $500 and maybe more, to set it all up. I was really surprised by the price. +1 Then, its maneuverability is off the charts. So, when you are fis...

Re: Native's smaller Titan: the 10.5

I'd buy this boat over a PA 12 or 14 if I were fishing lakes, ponds, floating slow rivers, etc. The PAs would be better offshore I think. Can you elaborate on this? Are you saying that without consideration for price the Titan is better suited for lakes/ponds due to the measurements/features, or th...

Re: Concept Z initial impressions. Did I expect too much?

To be honest, I’m a bit surprised at how defensive 13 Fishing is being about reviews and even the slightest criticism of this reel. The comments left on the Reel Test fella on YouTube seemed rude. The Reel Test didn’t even give it a bad review. To me, that’s a red flag, and not just concerning the ...

Re: Kistler He3 MHXF

Kistler is running a 20th Anniversary sale right now, and I couldn't resist ordering the He3 7'1" MHXF. Thanks again for the feedback!

Re: Kistler He3 MHXF

Thank you all for the feedback! Glad to hear there is some love for the Helium 3, I just got a 7'0" MLF spinning model and I may have to add a MHXF to my lineup, although I am keeping a very close eye on the Gen II Orochi XX thread...

Kistler He3 MHXF

Looking for some feedback on either the 7'1" or 7'4" MHXF Helium 3:

1. In terms of lure weight, what's the sweet spot for this rod? Can it comfortably handle 3/8 - 1/2 oz jigs + trailer?

2. How versatile is the rod? Is it too fast for single hook moving baits?

Re: What’s your Finesse spinning rod?

Received a Kistler Helium 3 7'0" ML Fast spinning rod this morning. Looks great paired up with a Stradic FK, can't wait to get some time with it on the water once we thaw out here in Iowa.

Guide Size - Orochi XX vs Helium 3

Does anybody have measurements on guide inserts for the Orochi XX casting rods (semi-micro?) vs Kistler Helium 3 macro guides? I'm assuming the macro guides on the Kistler are a bit bigger but I'm curious how the labels translate to actual dimensions.

Re: Shallow spool?

I use plumbing thread tape (PTFE). It is extremely thin, stretches around the spool, and compresses under the line. It offers a little bit of grip but doesn’t have any adhesive to be left behind on your spool when you change it. Spools large enough for mono backing get line, but for super shallow s...

Re: Best light wire swim jig rod

My Megabass Orochi XX Flatside Special is perfect for lighter wire swim jigs. I fish 1/4 oz northern style swim jigs on a pretty fast rod and often have to give the tip a sharp pop to bring the jig through grass. For those of you that throw light wire swim jigs on a slower rod, do you feel like you...

Shakey Head Rod - Megabass Orochi XX or Dobyns Champion

I'm in the market for a spinning rod primarily for shakey heads (most often a 3/16 oz head). I have a couple of Dobyns rods that I really like so my first instinct is to go with the DC703SF, but I'm intrigued by the Megabass Orochi XX Shakey Head rod. Anybody have a strong opinion on those two rods,...
