Re: High quality ul hardbait rod
I would look at a stream trout rod. Regards I have thought about that very seriously. I have a wide stream that I picked up about four years ago from finesse-fishing and love it. Looked into the tenryu rods in both their stream options and one of their stiffer area rods all around the six foot leng...

Re: Daiwa Presso 21
Had one on pre-order for a while but release date has been delayed. Pretty sure the 21 Presso is made in China. I am curious to see how it performs with the oil filled bearings. Just hoping it is equal to or better than the 2017 Presso I have. Will do review on my YouTube channel when it comes in. R...

Re: Need help on a new reel
I have 4 of the Daiwa Ballistic FW 1000 series reels. I added the bearing kit and I have to say it is a very good reel. I also have an Abu Garcia Revo MGX Theta 1000 reel. It is a great reel also and I use it quite often with my Slow Taper Special rod. Not only does the reel have excellent functiona...

Re: JDM rod similar to TSR 801-2?
The TSR801-2 is only 6'8" guys :) Looking for something roughly that length, though I'm not opposed to something as short as 6'. Took the TSR with me today rigged with a 1/16oz road runner and 2" Kalin's grub to the place I've been fishing for bass since I caught an exceptional crappie on my last t...

Re: JDM rod similar to TSR 801-2?
This is hard one....due to rod length. I only stepped into long rods once and it turned out wrong. I bought a Blue Current TZ 8' 3" Long Cast. This was years back and I had little experience with JDM rods. It was way too rigid for what I was wanting to do with it. I would look at the ERD REAL FINESS...

Re: Next JDM trout rod to acquire?
Is MC even jdm? I know a lot of them are China made or thai/Malay. For jdm I'm a fan of multi piece so I tend to lean on Huerco Yes MC is JDM....not all JDM gear is "Made in Japan". As a matter of fact the majority of JDM gear...and I'm including all gear to include terminal tackle, is made in othe...

Re: Next JDM trout rod to acquire?
Hello fellow anglers! I am considering adding a new rod to my JDM collection. Currently I have a Major Craft Finetail FAX 6'3 UL and a Graphiteleader Super Bellezza 6'4 UL. My initial plan was to get the Abu Garcia Diplomat Extreme, but I have seen seen Alpahawk using the Iprimi XXUL. I originally ...

Re: Ester or PE Braid?
Alphahawk, did you get the line? Any conclusions? Thanks. I have found the higher you go up in ester line ratings the more manageability issues one has.....I tried a 3# test once. Varivas USA reached out to me and will be sending me a new ester line to try in December. It is supposed to be more man...

Re: Looking for tips regarding a landing net for UL fishing
Agree with those who commented on net material. For C&R, I will only use rubber or silicone net material as it is less abrasive on the fish's natural 'slime' on the scales. Also helps in releasing any barbed hooks caught on it. This may not be what you are looking for due to the shape but I favor t...

Re: Looking for tips regarding a landing net for UL fishing
I just returned a net because the basket dimensions were wrong. Info stated it was 14 inches deep and in truth was only 8 inches deep and had zero stecth. Had several 18 inch trout and one 20 inch jump out. I was trying to cheap out on a net....and yet I purchase 400 dollar rods....I know, doesn't m...
