Re: Javelin as bottom contact rod?
I've used mine for Texas Rig and it did just fine. I like my Trigs to have a softer tip than my Jig rod. It's true the Daemos doesn't have the traditional MB tip, very American rod like, but it's one of my favorite rod regardless. The Javeline is the versatile one of that line and it has enough back...

Re: Looking for first megabass rod please help
Frogs and weightless senko rods really are a bit apart power wise unless you're fishing mostly moderate to open water frogging. Megabass Frog rods are usually F7 power with F6 doable. Weightless senko rods for MB is usually F4-F5 power. With that said and the length you want I would recommend the Ph...

Re: Ultimate Drop Shot set up
Best is subjective and not everyone has tried all brands and models. It has been nothing but pure pleasure to fish my two DS rods though. I wouldn't trade these two rods for any at the moment. Even if better ones came out I would keep these and just buy the better rod for my 3rd. Megabass F2.5...

Re: Diawa Steez SV specific rods
The only thing with that chart is it doesn't show the models tapers. This one at least shows what the rod was made for. Sort helps you distinguish it the rod is fast or regular taper.

Re: Diawa Steez SV specific rods
The US Steez 7'1 Heavy power compile X is a very nice rod IMO. Nothing beats an air beam reel seat IMO. It feels so comfortable in my hands and looks amazing as well. I also have the US SVF 7'2 MH but I think that rod is just ok. These are the models before the AGS. The JDM offerings have a lot more...

Re: Pixy/Pixzilla still relevant...
I would up picking up a PX68L - and am a bit underwhelmed with 1/8 oz baits. Part of it is the rod I believe, I have it on a DX742 and I probably should be using a DX702 or lighter to really take advantage. Before buying another rod though I thought about trying a different spool, ie a DIY or Fines...

Re: Pixy/Pixzilla still relevant...
By far the best Pixy variant. Just that it wasn't JDM and retailed at $500 and never took off. The spool might have been an too heavy for light stuff but a spool swap can solve that.Sore Thumb wrote:Never see much mention of the PX type R. Pretty much a Pixzilla straight from the box.

Re: Pixy/Pixzilla still relevant...
The Pixy is like a mini-me version of the TDZ. So much you can do to the reel. For builders it's still the BFS reel to modify. Pixilla it and you'll easily dump another $200 or go all out and you'll easily dump another $400+. The only thing is the stock spool is nice but the newer offerings has that...

Re: FMJ Vs PIII Bearing down
Just tested my FMJ today quickly on shore. Yes the tip is soft enough for roll cast and skipping. It's a really nice power rod.

Re: FMJ Vs PIII Bearing down
I have both and yes the FMJ has a softer tip to work lures. Even though it is 1 power stronger the tip is more forgiving. I was never a fan of the P3BD. I just felt it was a stiff rod with no tip action. I did like the weight of the rod but didnt like a few things and sold it. Too bad the phase 3 su...
