Re: How do you predominantly cast, by one or both arms?
well, i use two hands and arms. i like to give it a swing. Used to be some tourneys requird us to use one hand and not a net, but i like the two hand swing and use net too now days. Years ago i had terrible elbow problems and my hubby told me I was casting incorrectly so i tied a dish towel around w...

Re: Poll: Do you tape your Wiffle Spool with Teflon tape?
well, here is my take. i think if manufacturer wanted tape on spool, they would've provided tape, however, IMHO, we all do things to items we purchase because we think we "make it better, easier to use,we like mod'ing things etc". Is it necessary to wrap spool, nope, but if you feel it is better and...

Re: will a Scorpion 1000mg handle fit a Curado reel?
Puma jeff,
I believe the answer is a no and here is why. the curado 100 and 200b have nuts holding handle on and 1000 has screws underneath the handle.
gosh, you sure do get around. connniek

Re: Hello, everybody
shorebound, when taking out the bearing retainer clip(it is octagon shape), put your finger over the back side of it, take pair of tweezers and grab the side of clip, push in, and pull up. with finger over clip, it will not take on a lifeof its own and fly away. Trust me, i have spent many times on ...

Re: Hello, everybody
hmm, good question, but i believe all shiimano's have drag grease on the drag washers. Since you are asking, you probably know how to take down your reel, just take it down and take a look at the drag washers. If grease on them, then use shimano drag grease on them. There are some drag washers that do...

Re: Maintenance on shimano
well, a little tid bit to remember is this: grease the gears, oil the bearings. when applying grease to the gears, use a small brush or toothpick and apply the grease to the baseof the gear teeth so that when the gears mesh, the grease works. Swiping the outside of the gear with grease does not do m...

Re: WHICH BAITCASTING REEL CAN CAST THE FURTHEST?
well, if you go visit with Tony Gittins, TG's Rocketfuel, he developed the Tournament Rocketfuel for the guys in casting contests. The tournament RF is very very thin and has to be constantly applied as it is thrown off with the casts. Tony says that the Tournament oil will improve distance. However...

Re: WHICH BAITCASTING REEL CAN CAST THE FURTHEST?
well, here is my take on the tests. something else to think about is same settings on reels. type of bearingsand rating of bearings. Actually, this is kinda a difficult task IMHO to make apples to apples. and the weight of reels would also be a factor. For me, the heavier the reel, the tireder i get...

Re: When will I have enough gear?
to give you some idea of how much we anglers spend on tackle, go to American Sportfishing Association web site and take a look at all the stats. They have great info about total monies spent on tackle, how many fresh water and salt anglers, etc., With two anglers in the house, we have lots and lots ...

Re: What do you do with your older rods and reels
we donate to Texas Parks and Wildlife as they have "Hooked on Fishing Not on Drugs" Fish day for kids everyyear and are always in need of rods and reels. Also some of the rehab places that have ponds, lakes etc can always use for the clients in rehab. Fishing is great therapy. conniek

Re: Shimano Performance/Cosmetic Upgrades
well, anglers can replace their stock bearings which are probably ABEC 3 stainless with ABEC 7 stainless or ABEC 7 ceramics. The difference being that they both have stainless raceways, but the stainless have stainless steel balls and the ceramics have ceramic balls. The ceramics are pretty pricey a...
