Re: Hardbaits vs Plastics ...
Fish arrow makes some amazing stuff, 1" Flash Js and J Huddles for one example. I like the Itty Bit Swim'R from Bobby Garland and HookUp baits a lot as well.John G wrote:What kind of UL plastics are y'all using?

Re: Finding a "Light" BFS rod???
Anyone want to take a shot on what would be best for 1/16 plus crappie plastic for bass/crappie/walleye? And maybe the occasional Bitsy Minnow/1/12oz spoon??? I use my Fenwick Aces 63L a lot for applications like this. When the fish are busting I often throw a 2" flash J on a 32nd crappie magnet he...

Re: Trout casting rod.
I started with trout rods but now only own a SUL for .5 gram range. For me I found I can cast 1 gram and up easier on a bass taper bfs rod. I use either UL or L rated rods that are rated down to 1.5 g and max at 7 or 10 g. The rods are in the 6 foot range and the extra length really helps with dista...

Re: Who is using BFS casting gear for trout/panfish
Southpaw619, contacting you off PM. But seriously, you can cast BFS FURTHER than with a spinning rig with a 1/32 minijig? Have you tested side by side? And what line are you using? I'm in So Cal too - my schedule is crazy crazy crazy but perhaps if you are fishing somewhere, I can meet up with you ...

Re: Who is using BFS casting gear for trout/panfish
Well....resuscitating a bit of an old thread. Just read on BFS tonight. Fascinating. Out here in California, a lot of the best trout 'chasers' that I know fish with 1/32nd oz minijig on 2 lbs mono or fluorocarbon line. (Maxima Ultragreen 2 lb is one of the most popular.) Casting distance matters as...

Re: Finding a "Light" BFS rod???
I think most bass taper bfs rods will work just fine. They're much different than the trout taper bfs rods. My L rated rods can throw 1 gram lures at trout but I've also landed DD bass on them just fine as well.

Re: Fenwick Techna GP???
I haven't tried their older lines yet but I have some Aces/Goldenwings and I rarely fish anything else. While Fenwicks aren't the fanciest of rods they're very clean with unmatched performance.

Re: New Teton Stream Soft UL
Only 53 grams for the soft UL, that's crazy! I picked up a SUL to see if it would help the 16ALD15R with low weights. It didn't add any distance over bass taper UL's but was slightly easier to use under 1 gram. I got about 5 yards with .28 g and 8-9 yards with .4 g. The thing I liked about the rod w...

Re: My UL Spybait Challenge
I still have a solid amount of 60s but am starting to run low on the money colors. The little custom Perakko you made are the coolest thing I've seen in awhile! Did you copy their SW sink rate or mirror the 60's sink rate? If you ever sell any let me know lol.

Re: Finish issues on newer Shimano baitcasters
I agree, most of my Aldebaran BFS look perfect still but the one I used with sun gloves the paint is beat to crap. It's a little frustrating not being able to wear gloves with them.
