Source for Pinion/Drive Bearings

These will be packed with grease as per TT members' suggestion - not sure if I need/want hybrids or simply stainless steel and where to source them? Also, can anyone confirm the sizes of the following bearings - 21 Zillion - 2x Pinion, Drive gear Alphas SV TW - pinion/drive gear Catalina TW (previou...

Zillion 1520 HD Alternative

Really glad I picked up a Catalina TW from tackletrap a few years back - I don't see a substitute for this class reel from Daiwa atm. Looking for another "HD" type reel to throw deep cranks and small glides - TKs, Spro Chad Shads and 8XD, Duo G20s etc. Will be running braid to leader in saltwater; d...

Re: 2024 Releases/Rumors

A true Zillion HD would be nice - something in between the current Zillion SV TW and the Tat 300 etc.

Re: Zillion/Alphas SV TW Raspy after Saltwater Season

I simply pack frame bearings with Yamaha Blue Grease. A tube should last a lifetime. Between that and TSI, I haven’t had to replace any parts in years. Reels still get crusty after a while, but everything cleans up like new when serviced. Any stainless bearings should be fine for frame bearings, pa...

Re: Zillion/Alphas SV TW Raspy after Saltwater Season

CRBB has a miniscule amount of surface coating on the bearing race that wears out within the first few uses - the metal is then exposed - stick to routine maintenance than gymic technology. And don't forget that most bearings especially stainless are the bare minimum to maintain hardness and mainta...

Re: Zillion/Alphas SV TW Raspy after Saltwater Season

I'd say check free spool first. If that isn't good, the spool bearings need replacement. Next, if the reel still feels rough, replace the lower pinion bearing. The upper pinion bearing would be next, but not likely because it is built with a castle seal, plus an o-ring. Last suspect would be the up...

Zillion/Alphas SV TW Raspy after Saltwater Season

Plenty of grease on the gears and drive shaft bearing (I flood that cavity with aquashield grease), and it's making noise while not under load, so I suspect pinion bearings. What should I replace it with? Daiwa CRBBs? Should I pack those with grease as well? Any advice appreciated - these are dedica...

Re: Backpacks

I was looking for a bank beater backpack that stood upright and someone on here recommended the Osprey Tropos. I got it and it works perfectly for me...internal frame so it stands up even in sand/uneven ground, great straps/back panel and I would imagine better ergos than any "fishing tackle" backpa...

Re: ML bottom contact rod recommedation

I'm on the prowl for a dedicated 1/4 oz finesse jig/bottom contact casting rod. Total bait weight=8-12 grams... Has anyone experience with the Shimano Expride 72ML(A or B?) and would it have have sufficient power? If I had $600 I'd just get the Daiwa Steez AGS 'The Sensor'...but on paper the Sensor...

I'd suspect a manufacturing defect here as mine have been fantastic and highly productive.
Yeah I am literally swimming these in open water and maybe skimming over sand, and this being a new bait I suspect definitely a manufacturing defect. Does Evergreen have a form to fill out like MB does?

Evergreen Flat Force Leaking

This is on a sandy bottom, zero rocks around - after 2 or 3 fish.

Is there a fix? Where is the water coming in...the hook hangers?

Are there any 6-8ft flatsides out there besides the Strike King KVD?

Re: Legit Design rods

Don't hear much from this brand, but have seen a guy bank fishing with one, and it seemed like a pretty solid rod with a clean build. Anyone has any experience with these? I was underwhelmed with the 67L+ spinning I had - blank loaded funny with fish on, and most decidedly NOT good value if you're ...

Max depth is 4 feet if I’m not mistaken so I’d say 2.5-3 feet
Thanks!
