Re: Brands to start a collection?

I think what you need to decide is what characteristics and/or features are important to you. As an example, some place more importance on overall weight versus balance. Others are very concerned with the aesthetics of the rod. Others like exclusivity preferring to buy hard to get or rare rods. Pers...

Re: Dobyns Fury info posted up.

Personally, I plan to at least hold a Fury before I pass judgment on them. I'm sure Dobyns feels they will be able to sell them or they wouldn't have 'made' them. Actually, the rod is being 'talked about' beforehand. It was introduced at the Bassmaster Classic prior to the expected release date in M...

Re: Recommend a Frog Rod

Dobyns Champion 735 is my rod of choice. Nice tip that loads well on the cast. It really gives good feedback so I know exactly where the bait is going. The same tip lets me easily walk the bait. Plenty of power to get fish, even big fish, turned and heading your way. The balance is great on the rod....

Re: Would a Scorpion 1000xt "match" on a DX 743

I don't own the Scorpion but own the DX743 & DX744. The DX743 is an incredible senko rod with a great taper. The rod (tip) loads great with a 5" weightless senko. Casts the darn things a mile. Bites are easy to detect & the sweep set gets them everytime. Plenty of power for rigging them weedless (t-...

Re: Dobyns Champion 765 suitable for 8xds?

Well.....hard to say as I haven't even seen a 8XD yet. :D

I have thrown 5" Bullshad swimbaits on it. Loads up pretty good but no problems throwing it. I thought they weighed 1 1/2oz but a quick check on Tackle Warehouse has them listed at 1.35oz.

I wonder if it could be new boat set up stuff. Dean Rojas mentioned picking up his new boat on the way to the Classic.

Re: Anyone else catch what Aaron Martens said on day 1 and 2

I was only half paying attention when he got on stage Day 1. I was watching while surfing the net just like I am now. I thought I heard him say his dad passed away but didn't find anything else on it anywhere. I was surprised he mentioned equipment problems. Thing is, with the cameras on you, especi...

Re: Dobyns Champion:734 vs 735?

Between the two, definitely go with the 735. I think you need a more powerful rod than the 734 for hollow frogs & buzz toads. You'll be able to throw them but I believe you're hooksets will be lacking. The 735 is more rod than you need for the 5" senko but everything else is gonna work real well on ...
