Re: Need a frogging only reel...

I'd say a Zillion TWS, too, but I'd go with the 7.3. I feel like the 9.1 is great for flipping and pitching, but if you can't pull the fish out using the rod and are having to winch it out with the reel you'll burn those gears up, too. That goes for about any reel, but the 7.3 will outlast about any...

Re: Daiwa Tatula rods (black and gold)

If you want to do all that I would look at either the 6101MHFB with 12-15# fluoro or the 711MHRB with 40-50# braid. They're both very versatile. The 610 has a lighter tip, is lighter in power and weight, slightly better balanced, slightly more sensitive, and closer to what most consider a medium hea...

Re: Daiwa Tatula rods (black and gold)

It is either polished really well or has a plastic insert because I've never had any of them scratch any reel. I have 7 different models.

Re: Weight difference - Steez SV

Good question. I use my ss sv 6.3 mostly for small resistance baits like 1/8-1/4 cranks and spinnerbaits and it's as smooth as ever. For heavier stuff i don't know because I have reels i feel are better suited for it. For general all around fishing, a steez wouldn't be my first choice, but I'm sure ...

Re: Weight difference - Steez SV

Why would the 8 be brass and I assume the 6 be aluminum since the 6 would see a lot more cranking style baits that put the gears under more of a workload? Thanks! I think it has more to do with the pinion being so much smaller the durability wouldn't be there and you don't want a brass pinion chewi...

Re: 2017: Favorite Technique to Catch Bass

Man, you know variety is the spice of life. All techniques are pretty fun, especially when the bite is on. That's why we all have 12 combos rigged up and ready to go and a travel setup in the car just in case, right?

Re: 2017: Favorite Technique to Catch Bass

Paddle tails for this guy. Not to terribly exciting, but it gives me the chance to switch up my retrieve, fish deep or shallow, and overall just play around with it. They work all season every season for me on a broad spectrum of species. A very close 2nd would be a wacky rigged Flick Shake worm. S...

Re: SV spool for cranking

I have the low geared SV105P @5.8:1. It holds 200' of 16#FC sniper fc. I cast 1/4 - 1/2oz cranks with ease. I throw a lot of 1/4oz head 3.8"Fat Keitech paddletails and the retrieve resistance is nearly effortless. I actually at times have wondered if the lure is still attatched. I want one of those...

Re: 6.3 for Texas rigs?

I guess I'll just drop 40-50 bucks for a 7.3 gear set if i decide a 6.3 is too slow. I'll still be way below retail and can switch it back should the need arise. Maybe I'll get a red handle nut plate and mag-dial too. It would look sweet with the gold CCC and nitride line guide, kinda like the zilli...

Re: Best Wacky Rig Hook

I don't know why i didn't think of this before, but Owner Twistlock Lights are made specifically for senkos. They aren't wacky hooks, but because of the lighter wire you still get good action from the bait, the CPS keeps your bait on the hook when skipping, and the texas rigging keeps you from hangi...
