I looks like shimano is moving away from the style brakes they put on the curado i and citica i. Idk what other reels they stuck them on...

yeah those two screws are super tight..you need to have a screwdriver that fits perfect.

I have not tried popping that out yet on my reels , but I was told a small flathead screwdriver would do the trick ?

I also have nothing bad to say about shimano's customer service. You are right though ,the low profiles with xship definitely have a very different feel to the spools than the previous generation reels.

it depends on what the magnesium is mixed with. obviously the make up of the materials used for that spool are a no go in salt for shimano.

usually when a reel is not recommended for saltwater it has some form of magnesium on it.

aluminum frame , graphite side plates , just like the curado.

Still would love to know what the frame material is before I thrown $$$ for that reel...
