I looks like shimano is moving away from the style brakes they put on the curado i and citica i. Idk what other reels they stuck them on...

I have not tried popping that out yet on my reels , but I was told a small flathead screwdriver would do the trick ?

I also have nothing bad to say about shimano's customer service. You are right though ,the low profiles with xship definitely have a very different feel to the spools than the previous generation reels.

it depends on what the magnesium is mixed with. obviously the make up of the materials used for that spool are a no go in salt for shimano.

usually when a reel is not recommended for saltwater it has some form of magnesium on it.

This is bad news for the Tatula CT. Maybe we will see something at ICAST. Lighter spool with the new brakes is my guess. Maybe adding bearings to the handle. please explain... The side plates are CI4 material. This new composite is a little stronger than the CI4+ material. The model being sold in Japan uses the same material. The CI4 logo refers to the side plates. MGL is for Magnumlite which refers to the spool. This has the new spool design and the latest generation of...
