Long ago there was a guy on TT making awesome custom cork knobs for them (from NY?), but I am not sure if he sold them or not. They were much better than rod handle quality with burl accents and all. He may still be around.

I hear you, though. As I get older I take scratched up reels and upgrade them and get as much satisfaction or more. Rarely do I buy a brand new reel anymore, and if I do it I pay less than MSRP.

The Steez / TDZ spools fit but the bearing on the spools has to be replaced with the smaller bearing on the USDM TDX spools.
