Interesting if made in Japan. Same, redundant tooling in two separate factories in two countries?

Re: Stradic CI4+ Handle Knob Replacement
Long ago there was a guy on TT making awesome custom cork knobs for them (from NY?), but I am not sure if he sold them or not. They were much better than rod handle quality with burl accents and all. He may still be around.

Not finesse, but old school power....

Re: New Stella $800.00. It's time for reflection....
I thought on Plat they were about $685 at the latest exchange rate (?)
I hear you, though. As I get older I take scratched up reels and upgrade them and get as much satisfaction or more. Rarely do I buy a brand new reel anymore, and if I do it I pay less than MSRP.

Finally........
It looks like after all these years - finally - we have regular sized spinning reels (and not just large, offshore varieties) without the silly (and plastic) anti-reverse levers. Finally. I was wondering when Shimano or Daiwa would start dropping them. They are another entry way of water into the re...

Steez SV spool in old classic
Well, it is winter in Ohio which means it is time to buy some more things to try out before the ice melts...
I picked up a Steez SV spool to put in my classic TDZ. I am looking forward to test-casting it in the snow tomorrow.

Re: My Spool Pin Pliers
Reelspeed used to sell them directly out of their shop in California, now they use the other big selling site (that is not the auction site). That's where I got my pair. I am about to order another pair to put on the shelf for posterity.

Re: My Spool Pin Pliers
Well, I wanted to update this old thread with new information. Today I just got in the mail the second generation spool pin pliers made by Reelspeed in California. First, I want to state clearly that I am in no way affiliated with Reelspeed - I am only a satisfied customer. Second, I would like to s...

Interesting. I have never observed this before in many years of fishing and working on many Daiwas. I would be interested to hear if others have observed it as well.

Re: Daiwa td-x 103 upgrades
The Steez / TDZ spools fit but the bearing on the spools has to be replaced with the smaller bearing on the USDM TDX spools. The old HIA's have a fixed inductor (Magforce), and I guess you could throw in a fixed inductor mod and see how it goes. It depends on what you want to throw with it. For the ...
