That's a problem a lot of us wish we had...Scott F wrote:Tried that. Tried to fit either end in first. No luck. I'm a quarter inch too long to fit.

Re: Stick length
You know...I started off using shorter rods like 6'8" and 7', and then people kept telling me I needed to go with longer rods; so I started buying 7'3", 7'6", 8'ers...but I find myself wanting to go back down to 7' rods, and I'm even considering buying 6'6" rods now. I think for punching, flipping, ...

Dobyns DX795 FLIP
I don't know what it is, but this flipping rod is the most sensitive rod that I've owned/used. It's the weirdest thing considering it's a flipping rod.

Unfortunately...after handling all 3 of those rods, I feel that they are pretty sub par for being in that price range...

I've transferred P-Line Halo from one reel to another without any issues, but it was only on there for about a week before transferring it.

I started busting up laughing at work, people are asking me what's so funny, explained it to them, and now they think I'm stupid.Quillback wrote:Yes indeed!spookybaits wrote:good oneTavery5 wrote:Rumor has it that they are upgrading the current Chronarch with green paint and calling it the Curado.

Re: perfect fluke rod?
If you can find one used, a Powell 682C would be great for this... I was going to say a Powell 683C or 703C. You could also pick up a used older model Shimano Cumara in this price range as well...actually, even some new ones are on clearance in a few places if you look. I think the Cumara would be ...

Re: Dobyns DX 702 SF
I have a Saros 2500 F on my Dobyns DX 702 SF with the newer guides, and I don't experience any issues with the line slapping against the blank. I use 20# Spiderwire UltraCast as my main line, and a 6# fluorocarbon leader.

Re: Reel for Dobyns rod
I've got a Curado 50E on my Savvy 735 and it balances out very nicely. This pretty much means that ANY reel will balance out this rod.
I don't have a 765CB Glass, but I do have a 765CB that I have a Chronarch 100D7 on, and it feels great.

Re: dobyns savy vs phenix recon?
Ok...so the Phenix rods look and feel sick. BUT! My biggest issue is with the guides on the new Phenix rods because they stick out off the blank pretty far, and I could totally see braid getting wrapped around it. I have an older Shimano Clarus rods with the same style...the guides just stick off th...

Re: Calcutta D or Lexa 300?
I haven't seen a new Lexa yet, but I did buy a Calcutta 300D last year, and what a beast of a reel. I love it. I don't care what other people say about it...it's awesome. It comes factory set with 2 brakes on, and it's not really adjustable unless you take the reel apart, but I have no plans to chan...
