Re: Aldebaran
I have an Aldebaran 51 with Boca Orange bearings. It is the best little casting reel I've ever fished and that includes several Pixies and Curado 51's.......but I like the Curado also.

Re: Ultralight Lucky Craft baits?
Don't overlook the LC Clutch. You likely can find them on ebay in ss, shallow, medium and deep runners. They are my favorite UL crankbait. Also the Bevy Shad is another good one.

Re: budget UL rod suggestions
Dicks Sporting Goods just put out a new series of Field and Stream rods called the Tech Lite. I handled a few the first day they put them on the racks this week. They feel like quality. $50. I'm VERY tempted even though I just ordered a St Croix Panfish series... check them out. I bought a 2pc 5-6 ...

Some Float n Fly jigs
Been tying a few lately. First picture is a bunch of 1/16oz F+F's.
2nd photo is a few 1/8oz I made to use without the float.

a good score
I just picked up a new Shimano Sahara 1000 for 45.00 and a new with tags Dobyn's Champion 681 SF for 135.00. I'm really excited to throw some light hair jigs with that set up.

Re: Smallest spinning reel?
Silstar makes the Tiny 20, it is about 4.8oz. A fun little reel but I'll stick with my Stradic Ci4 1000 or Symetre 750's. I've run a few spinmatics in my day but the Cetus SB500 blows them away.......that Cetus might be the best small reel there is valuewise.

Re: Maximizing distance with tiny jigs
I normally run with a pair of Okuma EVX 6-10 lights and a pair of Dobyns 692 SF's. I also take along a Dobyns Champion 702SF in the boat for good measure. We do have one or two big fish down here in Fl. The EVX rods are light and have a very good taper. The tip is soft and the back bone is pretty go...

Re: Symetre 500fl have x ship???
I never cared for the 500 Shimano offers because of the lower ratio retrieve. If you are lucky, you might be able to find some Symetre 750's. These are the same size as the 500 but with the features of the 1000, including a faster retrieve. I have 2 of these reels and they are among the best ultra l...
