Re: Megabass's Unheralded Spark Shad Swimbait

Gotcha on the Owner twistlock CPS hooks--the smaller owner flashy hooks work, but from the article, I was thinking that you were asking about regular weighted hooks with a centering pin and not the underspins that are out there. For the Decoy Makisasu Weighted worm hook, you can adjust the placement...

Re: Megabass's Unheralded Spark Shad Swimbait

Decoy makes a weighted hook (with a centering pin) in the smaller sizes. It is the Decoy Makisasu Weighted worm hook--the weights are lighter, in keeping with the finesse deal for the 3 inch Spark Shads. Also, Owner does make its Twistlock CPS weighted hooks in sizes small enough for the 3" inch sof...

Re: Megabass's New Sleeper Craw : Just Tie It On, Pitch It Out, and Get Bit

I hope these become available in smaller sizes and weights. How come? I've caught 12 inch to 6 lbers this spring on the Sleeper Craw. I've found that even the small fish have the lure in the mouth. Are they that good? May need to pick up one, so many confusing color options. I really think so. They...

Re: JDM Site Missing Evergreen Brand

Interesting thread. I would argue the currency factor is what is really in play here. The JDM product is a good 20% cheaper due to the US dollar's strength vis-a-vi the yen. To wit, the US dollar (as of 5/2) is approximately 1 US dollar = 137 YEN. In 2013, 1 US dollar = 97.60 YEN. So, in about a dec...

The IXI furious looks cool too. That should be money in the fall when they move up to blast the shad in the shallow flats.
The ixi shads are straight money. Can't wait to try the furious.

Re: What is the all-time best Megabass Top Water Rod?

Thanks for the replies, the Otomat and the Super Eiger are both rods I'd like to acquire in the future. They do seem to have great reputations. The Super Eiger was the most mentioned rod in the thread about must-have Megabass rods, so it must be a little special. A big +1 to both the Otomat and the...

Another big upvote.

Purchased a reel. Received it very quickly, packed well and the reel was in better condition than described.

Look forward to doing future business.

Re: What shad lure are throwing besides a shad rap?

What line are you using for the IxI Shads? My plan is to go with 8# fluoro, Sunline Sniper to be specific. I figure this will help with casting distance on these light baits and hopefully still have enough durability for dragging bottom, not sure if I should go with 10# instead for the latter reaso...

Re: P5 Oneten Special User Experience

Awesome! Thank you! Do you find the length of the special annoying in the kayak or is it actually pretty natural? Not necessarily. On occasion I will fish with a bigger rod and adjust for casting or using a walk the dog type technique in the kayak. While the length is a difference that you notice r...

Re: P5 Oneten Special User Experience

So I’ve seen the Oneten Special out in the wild and know some folks have had the chance to try it out. How does the new Oneten Special work out? Is it that different than the Oneten Stick? On an aside, I am looking into this to figure out which multipurpose light moving bait rod I want to keep for ...

I just started throwing an IXI Shad, but haven't spent a ton of time formulating an educated opinion.
Love this lure. I like both the R and Type 3 models. I have the TX ones as well to try out for deeper fish.

Re: Honest opinions...is BFS really worth trying?

I was planning to get an NRX 842c anyway for smaller swimbaits and various techniques. If I get a bfs reel (eg daiwa gekkabijin, bfs curado...)...I know it won't be as good as a pure bfs rod...but would it basically work just to give me an idea? I haven't fished the NRX842c. Based upon the specs, y...

Re: Honest opinions...is BFS really worth trying?

Can anyone who has switched to (or has switched back from) BFS, share how they feel about it? Is it worth buying the equipment and trying it out? Obviously, I'm not looking for anyone to make up my mind for me...just looking for honest experience and advice. Thanks Of course, it's worth trying out,...

Re: Keitech New Offerrings

The Keitech Casting Jig Model 1 Version 2 you are referencing has a different head design and, in my experience, doesn't come through standing timber and weeds as well as the head design on the original Casting Jig Model 1. Both the new Casting Jig and the Cranking Jig from Keitech released in 2022...
