Ultralight rod under $125

It's been a while, but I'm getting back into fishing after the winter and I am yearning for some UL fishing. Looking for a rod in the 6' - 6'6" length range that is crisp and not too whippy like cheapy UL rods. Throw me some suggestions :D. Thanks BTW, its fine if the rod is higher in retail value b...

Re: board consensus on backing

I have used backing for about 1.5 years now. Works great and saves money. I have never had issues with running out line on a long cast or anything similar. I don't think I would use backing on a shallow spool however.

Re: chatterbait rods??

One of daiwas glass rods with a fast action like the cielo. The taper is so unique for a glass (composite) rod and I think they are great for chatter baits.

Is it just me, or are there people that really need to read their post before posting... trying to follow this post but I can only understand half of what is being posted, I would buy a modified t-wing if someone started doing them professionally, just to try to see how different it is and to see i...

Re: New Alphas SV for 2015

Just opened this thread, and it made my day. Al SV reel, and NO TWS!!!! Thank you daiwa. IDC if they bring it to the states or not, buying from japenese sites seems to be cheaper anyway.

Re: Curado I or Chronarch E

The E is much more user friendly, and I find it casts much better than the I as well. I would take the E every time.

Re: Stupid question?

Taking a $125 reel, then mashing parts from different manufacturers into it or a different brake system will not make it perform like a $250 reel. If you really want to upgrade something, get a TDZ 103 or shimano 51e. Hedgehog and avail and others make parts for many daiwa and shimano higher end ree...

Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!

Yea that's definitely a largemouth. Nice fish though. The dots are a bit stranger yet interesting. I once fished a creek where every largemouth had bright red finds except the caudal fin. Still trying to learn how to tell them apart myself. His fish looks to have a smallish mouth, a more spotted th...

Re: another zillion cluctch bar concern

The zillion only has 1 spool pin slot in the pinion iirc. This means it is stronger, but takes a marginally more amount of rotation to engage.

Re: Custom Rod that tends to cast to left

This might sound snippy, but it is not the rod. There are two possibilities here: 1. Rod is not being loaded up sufficiently on cast due to too light of a bait/lure. This causes the cast to be inaccurate as the spool will not start up very well. Try upping the weight you are casting and see if it ma...
