I think it may be a bit of personal preference. I prefer a more mod fast taper for almost everything including jigs and Texas rigs.

My Shimano bfs reels are stock. Eventually Ill get an avail spool for by Aldebaran bfs but for use on bass lures the stock spool and spool is just fine.

Dang thats a serious punching setup

Take a look at the steez racing design "jigga stick" or the "hustler". Its hard to beat the racing designs, in my opinion they are the best rods on the market right now
