Bantam1 - Curado Spools?

Are the spools for a Curado 100D and 100DSV interchangable?
I wanna know if i can buy one reel and get the other spool so i can choose capacity ... 100D spool fresh and the 100DSV for saltwater.

Also the handle star from a Core or Cal fit the Curado? I like the flat edges on the star.

Re: Diawa braid

I haven't tried Diawa but wanted too. I've been having bad luck with power Pro .. Its seems like all the braids are suffering with poor quality control ... or they just plain out have been lying about tensile strength ... Maybe Tackle Tour could find a loaner tensile machine and do a blind test from...

Re: Mono backing?

electrical tap gunt is easy to remove with brake parts cleaner and its safe on the metal. Is there any advantage to using mono backing over electrical tape (or vice versa) for backing? Shat ShoreBound said. I hate the electrical tape gunk left behind. _________________ Matt Davis Better to have and ...

Re: basic surf fishing setup?

Average 10ft fast action M or MH rated for 2-8 sinkers 5000-6000 real 30# braid or mono .. size 2 4 and 6 circle hooks will cover most applications from worms to chunking for bass and blues. Jersey is known for big bass so don't go to light with your tackle. 3-6oz sinkers I know you don't want brand...

Re: Baitcasting Reel Help

LOL seems like everyone in the post ignored your price range by adding on $100-$200

for the $99 price range and application go with an Abu Garcia.

Avoid the cheapo plastic freshwater baitcasters they won't have the balls if a big blue or bass hits ya.

Re: How to choose a fishing rod

Sounds like you answered your own question. Go to the store and feel the rod. I've learned allot from this site. Use what feels good to you. There is no real formula it seems like trends direct rod specs and trends change all the time. I've always had one spin rod for light stuff and a casting rod f...

Re: G.Loomis Rod w/ Saltiga 15?

Not to familiar with cod fishing but from what i know they like to stick bottom. To compare the ETR84-3MC-14 is pretty much the same thing as a PR844 with a stiffer tip so you wouldn't be getting anything you don't already have. That curado has 12# of drag it has more than enought power. Line capaci...

Re: G.Loomis Rod w/ Saltiga 15?

I'm not to familiar with the saltiga 15 but i hope this helps To give you an idea a PR844 is basically a Medium freshwater bass rod with a lighter tip. great paired with Lowprofile or smaller round baitcasters. I own the GLX spin version and its exactly how loomis describes .... light tip with power...

Re: Setting the drag...

I have lost faith in penn spin there built like tanks but are falling behind in ability and features ... I use Shimano Spins now ... .. time will tell if they have the staying power of a penn though. Hi guys, I just got a new saltwater Penn 650ssm reel and I was setting the drag this morning. I cran...

Re: Setting the drag...

I'm going to agree .... Shimano Sustain 4000 says 18lbs and there not screwing around powerful and way smooth drag even at a high setting. You may be able to get a good price on a 2007 since the new model will be coming out soon. If line capacity isn't an issue I take the 4000 over the 6000. I have ...

Re: how to transport rods

ROD socks and reel covers for everything. I just ordered 3 Socks today from Beckman (Lindy the parent company). for $6 each plus $7.95 shipping thev're double stiched ripstop nylon very light weight and dry quick if they get wet. Can't beat PVC pipe for the price of a hard case.
