Megabass Griffon Zero/V4 buzzbait
Hey, just picked up a Griffon Zero from Ichiban and must say, it's a cute little guy. I think it will work great around shallow weedlines and over the top of submerged grass. Anyone use one and, if so, what do you think? Also, the V4 buzzbait I grabbed has the small dual clear 4 blades on it. I thin...

Re: Wart style baits
As a long time wart user, the benefit of the old warts was that they all ran differently. Some had a really wide wobble with erratic action while some didn't and you had to tune them to run properly most of the time. To me, you can't replace an original wart with any modern bait. The newer baits ar...

What's your rarest Oneten
I've gotten a couple of less than common Onetens and I'm curious what your rarest baits are. Here are mine. Megabass Vision Oneten OB Zebra and the Vision Oneten Pro J 10th Anniversary bait.

Re: Favorite Chatterbait
With rereading this thread in mind, what is everyone's favorite method for fishing bladed jigs during the postspawn period and into summer? I'm normally fishing small ponds and lakes up to 15 acres from shore or my kayak. Most of these have emergent weeds, moss cover, wood and the occasional dock. J...

Re: Spool question
It should drop right in. I think I've done that exact swap, but it's been years since I sold off my TD-X's. 99% sure, because I specifically recall that the gear sets will swap between the 2 reels. Thanks. I ask because I have a couple TDX and I can get the 105Pi spools cheaper than a reel, and I p...

Re: MB Dark Sleeper
I have quite a few. One 3/8oz, four or five 1/2oz and a pair of 3/4oz. I am going to take them out this week or next and see about some bites. I figure my MH Dark Angel with 15lb copolymer should suffice. They should slay in rivers for smallies too. Any update? Not yet man, we are experiencing a mo...

Re: Older Daiwa 7.x ratio reels
The TD-Z was a step up from the TD-X. http://jdmfishing.com/daiwa/td-z/ There is one gear set available for the LH TDZ 103ML/100ML, and it is a 7.1:1 ratio available from The Tackle Trap. If you like the size/shape of the TD-Z/TD-X/TD-S, then have a look at the original Daiwa Zillion. Same shape/si...

Re: Damiki BFS rod?
I have this rod and have it listed as part of a lot in the classifieds. It really excels down to about 3/16, but loses feel below there. It works great with light spinnerbaits and weightless Senkos.

Older Daiwa 7.x ratio reels
I've found and fallen in love with the older TDS/X reels, but they're all 6.3 or slower. Are there any available in a 7.x ratio? I'd be interested in looking at them and, eventually, buying one. These reels just sit on the rod and in my hand perfectly. The weight is not excessive and I find it comfo...

Re: Squeal during hard cast
Well, some oil quieted the bearings, now there's no squeal. I just need to grab 4 sets of new ceramics...any idea what sizes the TDS and TDX take?

Re: Squeal during hard cast
I assume you're speaking of the pin just past the bearing, but shouldn't tension on those be sufficient to hold it in place?ShimanoFan wrote: ↑Fri Apr 26, 2019 7:40 amCheck spool pin alignment. If they move off to the side, they can rub the frame and scream when casting.
Grease or oil?

Squeal during hard cast
Allow me to preface this with a description of what reel I'm talking about. I'm using my TD-S 103HVA. The last 2 short outings, maybe 2 hours total, when I make a hard cast, the reel squeals. I already oiled the brake drum with a light film of oil, but I'm curious if the bearings could be the issue ...
