Re: Daiwa SV103 vs Zillion SV TW

You can purchase the 7.9 gears from the JDream on plat. They are part 38/52 and are sold as a set for 3630yen. https://www.plat.co.jp/shop/catalog/optionparts/language/en/manufacturers/1/siries/15/ I've purchased several sets. I also bought the the 6.3 out of the PE Special as they are the C6 Bronz...

Re: The CHEAPEST ROD BUILD

If I want a cheap rod, I just go out and buy one - there are plenty of functional sub $200 rods out there. I figure it takes me the same amount of time building a cheap rod as it does an expensive one, so why waste the time (or have your name associated with a cheap rod). Besides, it seems $200 (in...

Re: Daiwa SV103 vs Zillion SV TW

Shhh....I still lurk the bowels of the net hoping to find a gem. I think I paid on average $225 for all of my SV103. I did sell an IP63 and IP79 to fund the purchase of 4 SV103. I sometimes regret selling those but much prefer the 34mm spool choices. The IP are pretty wild with floro and anything un...

Re: The CHEAPEST ROD BUILD

NFC Delta....PERIOD! They punch well above their weight in quality and durability. Built the 706 for a friend who high sticks it and I've watched him boat flip 100s of fish on it. I cringe everytime him bounces one off the side of the boat. With carbon grips, ECS, Fuji alconites, you are still under...

Re: Do you still use Boca Bearings inside your reels?

I got hammered on FB for stating that reel tuning is a thing of the past. As far as performance, it is most likely not noticable to most anglers. What is noticable, is the sound a set of ZPI ceramics make. The are much louder than stock bearings. I personally do not see the need to tune a reel anymo...

Re: Daiwa limitbreaker

C'mon Daiwa!...for a second I thought they went and gave us what we wanted. Seems like company's keep remaking classics only to change them to the point of ruining them. I've been waiting for a free floating 200 size big bait reel. Everyone still dreams of a Z1000. We got 80% of the way and some sal...

Re: Daiwa SV103 vs Zillion SV TW

Good seeing you post as well Dragon1. I have 2 new Zillions for topwater and jerkbait rods that are custom and super light. Everything else is a SV103. I have spare gear sets for each reel. I even bought a few 7.3 gears from plat. The 7.3 gears are the perfect all around set for me. They seem to las...

Re: Glass or No for Shallow to mid Crankbaits

I'm on the carbon train all day long. The rod will be lighter and much more sensitive. I prefer the sensitivity for when I'm working squarebills around rock and cover. I just.simply.have a better idea of what's going on below the surface. I keep hearing about loosing fish...I just don't see a huge d...

I have 7 SV103s and they are by far the best reel for bass fishing ever made.

Re: Are the DC brakes overhyped in your opinion?

Here is what I will say. My partner was a Shimano man with several DC models. He backlashed more with the DC than his non-DC Metaniums. We were throwing spinnerbait on windy points. After borrowing my SV103 he now has 4 Zillions. And I don't have to listen to that awful sound all day. You might be ...

Re: Project t—steez A II

I like to thumb the spool and have big hands. Spool width is a big factor as well. Sold my Alphas because I hated the tight fit. Not a fan of the Metanium for the same reasoning. The 34mm Daiwa spool is the perfect size for me. Can be used shallow Ray's with BFS #6 flouro or a ZPI 001 with #20 big g...

Re: Jerkbait rod

How can you work the bait with a 7'6"?

I tried to fish a 6'10" and was tip in the water a lot. Hated having to twitch sideways...it is uncomfortable for me.
