Thanks for info! I think I'm not suggest that Kingdom for him, if it needs maintenance before get used and Magnetic brake needs customization before it's good
Fuego sv it is. Or Fuego ct. Or used sv tw Zillion.

Re: Best baitcaster under $170 for beginner
Yes ... Messing with sv brake needs to be dial down and dial down and dial down, but then in some point there's no brake at all It's not distance casting brake, but still casting distance with it is OK.

Re: Best baitcaster under $170 for beginner
OK...I thought that Kingdom reel like that, in Pike fishing, set enough centrifugal brake and then adjust by magnetic brake. In case of Perch fishing, if there's enough power in magnetic brake, then use only that. If not enough, then apply centrifugal brake until there's enough braking power. But if...

Re: Best baitcaster under $170 for beginner
I still think the Aliexpress Fuego SV is the reel to get. When he wants to upgrade to something more free casting he can get a Magforce Z reel or branch out to the Shimano offerings. Also if he ever wants to go the BFS route for perch he can spool swap the Fuego SV. Yes. I think in some evening I s...

Re: Best baitcaster under $170 for beginner
It's my bombarda+fly reel. I cast 60 and 80 g bombardas with it. It's spooled 0.20 mm Trabucco Super Cast. I think it's 24 lbs line and long 0.50 mm ( I think it's 60 lbs) shock leader. Fantastic reel for that purpose:

Re: Best baitcaster under $170 for beginner
I have OG HLC Zillion with deep spool. https://japantackle.com/reel-archives/casting-reel-archives/daiwa-zillion-hlc.html I spooled 0.35 mm mono to it and it didn't take too much line. And for pike less than 0.35 mm is too thin mono for pike. So in my opinion it doesn't has enough capacity for pike,...

Re: Best baitcaster under $170 for beginner
My vote would be for an original Zillion, I've bought several for $125 and unless you need sv for light lures that's hard to beat for the money. Actually good advise! I have one Original Zillion and sv tw Zillion. Those are under $170 budget as used in Ebay. :) Great reels. Original one is a little...

Re: Best baitcaster under $170 for beginner
Looked that Kingdom Speedshot. I think I suggest him to buy it, because Aliexpress reels that I have tried has been worth of those cost and actually much more worth, because those are cheap. I also believe that Kindom Speedshot will serve him a long time. A lot of bearings and reel seems well manufa...

Re: Best baitcaster under $170 for beginner
Thanks for replies! A lot of good choises! Yeas, I think castability of lighter than 3/8 Oz lures is not important in this point. (Because those are quickly needing a special light rod.) I just didn't know how 10 g converts to Oz's :) But I think 3/8 ... 1 (1.5) Oz is pretty much lure range covered.

Re: Kuying Teton
Got mine Kuying Teton TTC510S. Blank feels very good for light lures. It's a little long for most bushy places, but rod length is what I consider what's ideal for lightest lures with baitcasting reel. In my opinion decent cast is needed for lightest lures and a little longer rod helps with it. I got...

Re: 2022 Daiwa Silver Creek Air TW Stream Custom
I really like the Roro AX24. Daiwa has been releasing some very great and innovative BFS reels lately. I am getting this reel regardless. Can be my dedicated stream reel and the Gekkabijin can be for open water. Yeah, that way those are supposed to be used :) But I think difference of magnetic brak...

Re: 2022 Daiwa Silver Creek Air TW Stream Custom
I think I'm not going to buy this reel despite of nice color of it. I have GekkaBijin with Roro AX24 (and Chamelleon) spools. But I might buy spool of Air Stream Custom. But probably there's not much difference from AX24.

Re: New 2021 Daiwa 月下美人 “Alphas” Air TW PE Special
Yes ... It allows to dial Magforce ~2x stronger than Original spool so it allows to adjust Magforce ~2x more precisely. And that's very good, if person likes to adjust Magforce presisely
