Re: Daiwa SS Air TW

In Magforce SS Air there is only one magnet ring: SS Air brake.jpg So obviously magnetic field force couldn't be adjusted in Magforce SS Air, but instead of that brake adjustment is done by moving magnets towards inductor ring. And moreover magnetic field is not anymore closed / protected like it wa...

Do you think the Gekkabijin with the Ray’s deep finesse spool will handle fluoro or nylon decently?
I don't have tried fluoro or nylon for it. But I can't figure out why it wouldn't work good with fluoro or nylon.

Ray's deep spool took 70 m of this PE#2.5 Owner Kizuna.

Re: Fluoro on Gekkabijin

I have PE#1 Morethan in my Gekkabijin. It's ~30 m. In addition to that I have a lot of thin PE#0. 5(?) backing. This has worked well. Minimun lure losses. But once I catch a sunk branch on the next bank and lost my main line and lure. Fluoro (or Nylon) I would not suggest for GekkaBijin.

SS Air should have similar capasity as Alphas Air, I think.

Re: Daiwa SS Air TW

Will it have a clicking drag ? Yes it should have: https://www.daiwa.com/jp/fishing/item/reel/bait_rl/ss_air_tw/index.html Drag drawer click The drag drawer click is a structure that makes a click sound so that the drag operation can be discerned by the sound when the line is drawn out in a fight w...

Re: newer tatula sv spool options?

You can try a Ray's inductor swap to one of the spools. Yep, this can help. Ray's inductor is broader, thinner and lighter. So with Ray's inductor Magforce initial setting is typically higher than in standard. And because of for same braking force is needed higher setting, Magforce can be adjusted ...

Re: Daiwa SS Air TW

Now it seems available on Plat. Interesting reel indeed. First I was hoping that it's Boost brake, but it's Magforce SS :) But might there still be 2 springs like in Boost?

Lew's Custom Lite SS, BFS reel with centrifugal brake

What do you think, is this Lew's Custom Lite SS worth of $299 @TackleWarehouse? I don't know practically anything of quality of Lew's reels. Probably I'm not buying this because I'm more interested in buying Daiwa SS Air Tw. But if Lew's appears very good, then it's different case. Anyway centrifuga...

Re: Best all around Daiwa Casting Reel ?

I think the short answer here is anything that utilizes a 34mm spool. Pick your platform and form factor and have at it. Plenty of BFS and mag finesse spools, tame spools for wind or target casting, max distance spools etc. Plus you have all the fun colored SV and ZPI spools. These 34 mm spools can...

Re: Backlash PSA

Sometimes it happens. And sometimes I have thought that there's different spool in a reel :D But I usually try to cast first cast steady and short, let the line to wet, and then to begin casting normally.

Re: Alphas AIR TW Spool

I think hobie-wan said he swapped spool between both and see no effect. My concern is about line lay on spool which Gekka is narrower and if worm gear incorporates with width of spool surface. I have GekkaBijin and full width Roro spool for it. GekkaBijin has standard line guide. It doesn't have an...

I have one:

It still in active use. It's one of my light pike reels. Reel is still smooth to crank and it casts good. It's a good quality product. Spool is some amount too high and reel itself is not as small as it could be.

Re: Alphas AIR TW Spool

Should be swappable as you said as spool sizes are same. From Plat you can buy Steez Air spool. I'm not sure is there some minor difference in a inductor or not, and Steez spool might be 0.1 g (or something) lighter. I like GekkaBijin spool, but spool volume is too small for me, and because of that ...

Re: Is There A Way to Make A Standard Baitcast Spool To A Shallow Spool?

Some cases it would be nice to make shallow spool from standard spool. Currently I don't have that kind of need, because I have enough shallow spools. But maybe I will make some experiments with that cork tape anyway.

Re: Daiwa SS Air TW

Neither do I see two magnet rings. But I think magnet rings doesn't necessary be nested, I think those can be also side by side. And another doesn't necessary be a ring, only magnets might do enough. But if adjustment is done by moving magnets towards inductor, then it has two effects: magnetic forc...
