Re: What is your finesse casting rod?
DX742 has my vote paired with a core 51e. I even use it for larger crankbaits as well. it's a great all around rod from dropshot 1/8 once, weightless to light c-rig and t-rigs. I'm curious about the type of line or lines that you use... and if you fish in any heavy grass areas.... The lakes that i ...

Re: help picking a jig rod
In general, I'd recommend a move up to a DX704 or DX744. As already stated, 3/8oz would be about the heaviest I'd usually fish on the 3 power. You don't say if you're fishing spider jigs in clear water with minimal cover or pitching jigs in moderate to heavy cover. If we're talking about spider jig...

Re: Powell Diesel
Are these any good? How would they compare to a F13 Omen in sensitivity, weight, and balance? Are the guides any good for braid? Are they a good deal at $55 dollars? I want a decent rod, not a $55 rod, looking more at something around $100 in quality. I was looking at the 7'6" MH extra fast for fli...
Re: t-rig rod
Good choice on the 743, the extra 4 inches of rod length can also help you with launching the bait noticeably farther than your standard 702 or 703. I have one myself.NJ Bass Fishing wrote:Okay thanks for the help! Looks like I'll be getting the dx743:)

Re: Need Fall fishing advice plz
Broad question.. i would try shallow first with a senko weedless.. try the weed edges as well. Without a FF you wont know where the dropoffs really are. I have to agree that there are just too many variables. I tend to stick with my strengths when I venture out of my comfort zone. I will not throw ...

Re: hook setting question
The bait makes a big difference as well as the hook. Frog fishing for instance is feel the weight, or watch for line movement. Soft plastics its tic and swing. Even then you may want to see the line move. Each circumstance is different. X2. If you wait on a soft plastic (Senko or similar type) you ...

pretty much the story!BucketHunter wrote:flipping pulling out line with non rod hand and sending bait out, bringing it back in by pulling line again with free hand. Pitching is sending lure out with an underhand pitch and reeling it back in.

Might have to try it myself.tH3_Guy wrote:Thank you. Early spring water was still about 60 degrees so those two big co blades churning really slow along with the black lure really caught their attention.

You just need to spend more time on that technique.
