Re: Avid VS Legend Tournament
For cranks I'd go with the Avid and save a few bucks unless you like the pretty blue color. I've measured and fished both other than a little weight difference they fish the same. The powers and actions are very close. If this rod is just for cranks I might look at their crankbait line. Good luck. S...

Check out this system- http://beast.voltztech.com/~razoredge/p ... dff0118a79
it's a lot of work, but your hooks will be sharp!

Re: Anyone use baitcasting gear for dropshotting?
If i'm using heavy line I use a baitcaster but 99% is done with spinning.
I found I catch way more fish using spinning gear then I did with the baitcaster. I wish I could do it the other way around, I would rather hold a pixy all day then a spinning reel.

Re: Split Grip Rods
As of a week or two ago Shikari's mandrels were still in OK. I know ATC said they were going to keep making the most popular models but how can they do that if they aren't using the same mandrels? They must be using their own mandrels which is why the blanks don't feel the same. I'm with you untill ...

Shikari was bought out but not by G. Loomis but a company called ATC (which Bob Loomis is part of).

Re: Split Grip Rods
If you want the skinny on him go to bfhp and do a search, he only got me for a blank, I fixed a couple of rods for a guy that he wouldn't warranty. Now back to the more interesting subject- the rod, lol. If I was buying a Steez I would want to match it up with a really nice rod, most any custom rod ...

Re: Custom rod
You can build a blank any way you want it. The blank doesn't know what it's being used for. You can make a real nice travel rod from a fly blank, my favorite baitcasting setup is built on a spinning blank (5S70MF). I don't think those LT's are the same blank, when St. Croix uses the same blank they ...

Re: Intertesting stuff for custom rod builders
Here are couple of reel seats I made, the first one is dlocked and the second one is painted. Those reel seats in the begining of the post are sweet. All the Japanese stuff is but I don't want to wait 3 months.

Re: Flames
Thanks guys.
Cal, I wouldn't own one of those reels on a bet,
This rod isn't for me but I don't think he is going to go the BPS reel route, or at least he better not, lol.

It's full blown winter up here so I've had time to work on some projects. Here is a set of split EVA grips with red eva flame inlays I just finished. Thanks.
