Re: Shimano Citica,SLX or Casitas?
With regards to the fast vs x fast rod my concern is with throwing lighter baits like worms, lizards etc...does x fast mean stiffer? Not really stiffer on the tip, I fish a couple of extra fast rods and the tips are nice and lively. They just get into their backbone extremely quick. I prefer xf for ...

Re: Shimano Citica,SLX or Casitas?
I have both the casitas and SLX. Hands down the SLX is the better reel for me. That thing feels flat out tiny on a rod.

Re: Guide Reccomendation
1. What sizes would you recommend for the stripper, bumper and runner guides? I don't do simple spiral wraps. I really don't like them at all and do a modified Roberts Wrap. That being said, on most freshwater rods, I will use three sizes total. Stripper, running, and transition. 2. Do you size the...

Re: Guide Reccomendation
I don't know the type and size of line you use. You can change the guide types and sizes as you see fit. If you're using Fazlite: KW 10 and 5.5 KB 5.5, 2 or 3 guides KT 5.5, running guides as many as you need I have the rings of the tip-top and running guides the same size. I use guide tubing from ...

I don't know why I didn't think of this. I have boatloads of these laying around.hoohoorjoo wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2019 11:02 amI'm not a rodbuilder, but a friend used tiny zip-ties to hold the guides for static load testing.

Guide Reccomendation
I've been wanting to build a rod for a while now so I figured I would get practice on an old rod that needs new guides. I've got a 7' MH TFO Professional rod that lost a couple of rings so I stripped all the guides and plan to do a simple spiral to start as I plan on spiral wrapping any rod I build....

Re: Ned head shattered my Expride...
I had a 1/2 oz jig come flying back at me and hit my Helium 3, I couldn't find an issue. I would have rather been hit by my jig than hear the god awful noise when it hit the rod.

Re: Jig/T-rig Rod
I just recently picked up a Kistler Helium 3 7'3" Heavy for jigs. This is by far my new favorite rod and I find the sensitivity to be phenominal. Compared to my XX it's a good step up. With the 15% off you can get A helium 3 for just over 200$. At that price IMO it simply can't be beat.

I have been wondering the same thing. When I clicked on a Google search link it came up account suspended. I've got one set of his bearings and wanted several more but can't seem to find a way to get some.

Re: Help me pair a reel to Kistler H3 Heavy
Well guys. Looks like the Zillion gets it. Rod is a little more tip heavy than I'm used to but otherwise feels great. Can't wait to hit the water this weekend.

Re: Inshore Baitcaster for under $100??
I've been using a Shimano casitas lately. Holds 150yds of 20lb find wind tamer. Can be found well under 100 right now. There's a local tackle shop with one in the clearance case for 70.

I'm leaning towards the Alphas myself, just not sure it's fast enough.

Help me pair a reel to Kistler H3 Heavy
I'm trying to decide what reel to pair with my Kistler Helium 3 Heavy X-Fast when it gets here. Going to be spooled with 60lb Sunline Flipping and froggin braid. Here are my options Daiwa Alphas - Abec 7's, Carbon Drag, Clicker Conversion, Steez Handle, 6.8:1 gearset Daiwa Zillion 50th - Bone stock ...
