Re: Need a 200$ bank fishing rod for Jigs and Texas rigs
=D> Good choice! I use mine for jigs, frogs, and single hook swinbaits, it gets the job done. That will be perfect then. Might find another spool for my zillion to put 20lb flouro on it just in case. I'm also thinking about putting a different reel on the megabass to make it a little more versatile...

Re: Need a 200$ bank fishing rod for Jigs and Texas rigs
Went ahead and pulled the trigger on the Helium 3. I ended up getting the 7'3" Heavy X-Fast. I figure I can change the reel on the EMTF and it can cover the lower end of the range in a pinch. The Kistler rod can cover jigs to frogs no problem I'm sure.

Re: Need a 200$ bank fishing rod for Jigs and Texas rigs
Good to know know the Dobyns. I can get a helium 3 right now for 240, the Alx comes in at 180 and the Levante is 200. What Helium 3 would you guys recommend for 3/8 to 1/2 oz jigs. I'm probably going to mount my 50th anniversary zillion and spool it with 60lb sunline fx2 so I'm not sure if there wil...

Re: Need a 200$ bank fishing rod for Jigs and Texas rigs
New or used? Used you may be able to get a gen 1 Orichi XX Perfect Pitch for about that much. New there should be lots of options for a rod at 15-20% off this weekend with the Memorial day sales. Sometimes Kistler has the Helium 3 rods for around $200 shipped on their website. That would be a great...

Need a 200$ bank fishing rod for Jigs and Texas rigs
I'm looking for a rod around 200$ to compliment my XX EMTF for bank fishing. I currently have a calcutta 201dc on the EMTF and use it for chatterbaits and spinnerbaits. I'm looking for a rod to cover 3/8-1/2 oz jigs and Texas rigs. I'm leaning towards the megabass levante brailist but would like to ...

Re: Talk me off the ledge please
I fished my XF50L this last weekend. It's definitely not as refined as 150$ reels but it is plenty fine for me. Mine is paired with Proflex 2 Up and it cast down to 3 or so grams fine, tour rod is probably a bit better for the lighter stuff. What I did notice is my reel liked a relatively loose spoo...

Re: Tsurinoya XF-50 Budget BFS Reel Teardown & Evaluation
I find my xf50 cast better if I lean into it hard when casting. If I try and lob or make a slow pitch it instantly blows up. I'm about to order some bfs bearings for it to see how it really does. Paired mine up with an UL proflex 2 and the rod flat out rocks. I would have bought the light if it were...

Re: Anyone tried DIY spools? $29-$40 BFS spools!
The new 34mm DIY spools are very nice. Great build quality, quiet, and smooth rotation. Spooled my gold and black spools with 10lb X8 JBraid. The spools are very free with easy start-up and need a bit more brake than my zpi Ms. Cast 3g spoons very far and with ease. Unfortunately these spools are n...

Re: BFS rods: JDM v CDM
I have a Tsurinoya Pro flex 632UL. First impressions I was blown away, I never expected a CDM rod to be this well built. I use mine with a custom Alphas type F for bass and panfish.

Every one of those I have handled have felt geary. Now if they feel that way when fished I have not experienced it.

Re: Help me pick a BFS Combo
It seems majorcraft has discontinued the 692xul. I need the 2 piece for portability and I think the Xul will handle the 1/16 hardbaits better than the UL. Anyone willing to part with theirs?

Re: Help me pick a BFS Combo
I think i will end up going with the volkey... might as well get the best of the bunch. That leaves me deciding which reel, I will be adding a set of hedgehog air bfs bearings to whichever reel. Im also trying to decide if the Ltz in stock trim is better than an avail spooled lt with air bearings. W...

Re: Help me pick a BFS Combo
The only difference between those rods is the quality of the blank. Hardware is the same. Go Emotion doesn't utilize Toray carbon fiber I believe, and the blank is painted. The Corzza has extra strength throughout the butt section and the cork is super duper nice. The Volkey has a texturized reel s...
