Re: Need a straight forward answer
Hey Chris, you got your answer right? If not I'll build you a couple more rods this winter that won't fall apart on you. Better yet send me one of the broken NRX's and I'll strip it and build it how you like. The rest of this thread has turned off topic and is complete useless, mods please lock this...

Re: Do you break your reels down ...
Every reel. Just got a new Smak 100H yesterday and it had almost no gease in it. Daiwa usaully goes completely overboard or puts nothing in their new reels. To me they all need a little attenion straight out of the box.

God awful rubber ones. Must have weighted half a pound a piece21farms wrote:cjtoad, looks great. by the way, were the knobs that came with the basszone handle solid plastic or rubber or were they coated cork like daiwa knobs?

http://imageshack.us/a/img69/4386/b3lk.jpg Much better wouldn't you say? It confirmed the pinion bearing is a 8x12x3.5. I upgraded the two spool bearing and the pinion bearing out to Boca Ceramic Lightnings, it's crazy smooth now. The handle must spin twenty time on it's own when given a quick crank.

Re: Have sub-7' rods become obsolete?
I always have a dozen or so rods in the boat between 5'10" and 6'8", never hit the water without them.

Re: Reel choice for large swimbaits
Pluton handles up to 4oz for me just fine but anything over 4 and I go to a Luna 300. The Luna handles up to 8oz no problem.

Re: Casting Rod for Silver Buddy and similiar blade baits.
I built myself a 6'6" med fast on a Northfork blank last year and it's been great for 1/2 blades.
