Re: G Loomis NRX 854C JWR
FYI - I borrowed an NRX 804 casting rod with a Mirrolure Catch 5, about 3/4 oz, and had no problems. I will get an 854 in 2 weeks.

Re: Chronarch clicking problem
Tighten the copper fingers so they are snug against the place where they track. Apply a light coat of grease where the fingers track.
The arm stays in place with the sideplate on.

Re: Southwesternparts.com
I use Shimano in California and then Southwestern. Southwestern has some discontinued parts that Shimano may not have.

Re: Braid to floro
I use a Yucatan knot with 12 wraps. I wrap the 15lb fluoro around the braid - easier to do while wading.
I tie the loop in the braid using a 3 or 4 wrap overhand knot on the 20lb Sufix braid and tighten it slowly and then pull it tight.

Re: Grease or oil the drive shaft bearing?
Oil for bearings and grease for gear teeth. Grease in the bearings will reduce casting distance, but could be smoother. Any grease or oil on the interior of the pinion gear will reduce casting distance.
So when oiling any of the spool bearings try and eliminate any oil overflow.

Re: Boca Bearings Lube, Anyone tried it
Lightweight and thin. Great on Shimano braking systems. Be careful not to verfill bearings that will overflow into the pinion gear interior.

Re: g loomis NRX worth $450+?
When you amortize the cost of a rod on a cost per fishing trip basis the rod cost is not really significant. Buy a rod that feels good and one you can catch fish when using it. I have had an NRX852 for 6 + months coupled with a tuned Chronarch 100D7 with braid and fluoro leader and will buy more. Ch...
