Re: 2024 Metanium DC

Kuro says it’s got the Aluminum main gear to counterbalance the extra 10g of the DC unit so it can stay at 175g total weight. And the body has been “completely” rebuilt to host the DC though on the outside it looks the same.

Re: 2024 Releases/Rumors

Maybe they figured out to slim the DC down: The SLX XT DC builds on the seemingly same frame as the Curado I from 2014 but they narrowed down the whole frame including the spool, from 200 to a 70 size. And the side plate looks quite flat also. So maybeeeee… this is the start of compact DC era? https...

Re: WHY are there no short enthusiast pitching sticks?!?!

With the big Japanese fishing shows and 2024 releases coming up, maybe the perfect rod will be introduced later this month

Re: Jackall Revoltage

my C67MH+ arrived today, here's the deflection. Jackall RVII-67MH+_.png The tip feels just as strong as the Zodias 172H, but even though it's a RF, it hits the backbone faster than said Zodias. Probably because of it's short length. Should not require as big swings to set the hook. Using brute force...

I ordered the 7ft1 casting, well see.
As your 71H solid tip is for sale, can you give a little review on what you didn’t like, what you think it’s good for etc?

Re: Constructing a sub-7' enthusiast-level heavy pitching stick (tip-down frogging + bottom-contact sensitivity)

Unfortunately I’ve never fished with classic hollow body frogs for bass as they’re not native to Germany. The few times a year we drive to Italy to fish bass they were always biting sth else :D … so I wouldn’t know how strong a rod needs to be to drive home these hooks… sorry Also no other blanks in...

Re: Constructing a sub-7' enthusiast-level heavy pitching stick (tip-down frogging + bottom-contact sensitivity)

heres the deflection of the PB731HXF in 100g steps from 0 to 900g PB731HXF.png and this one for reference is the old Zodias 172H (adjusted position of pb for the 1" difference in length) , I think the soft tip of the 731HXF is what made it land closer to a MH average in Cal's RoD Deflection chart. I...

That’s the PB731HXF with 16oz of load
Can try to emulate being cut down later

Re: WHY are there no short enthusiast pitching sticks?!?!

Im looking for exactly such a short stick, as I want to skip and walk the bounty fish from the kayak with it, potentially all day. But didn’t want to spend the top dollars. Interestingly enough, the Japanese frog rods are often only rated as MH or MH+ even though they are rated to 25lb max line and ...

Re: Need Help Deciding- Daiwa Tatula SV 70 OR Daiwa Tatula 80

Heard of a couple of people that needed to replace their spool bearings right out of the box as the stock ones in the 80 were squeaky garbage.

Re: Daiwa Saltist TW PE Special

I absolutely love my Tatula 80s. The same reel, but with a deeper spool/higher line capacity is very appealing to me for heavier/thicker copolymer lines like CXX. So the Saltist is the exact opposite of what you want :( Less line capacity and PE tuned braking sounds great to me, if it just wasn‘t b...

Re: New to BFS

Welcome aboard the rabbit hole :) My thoughts: Benefit is more fun in general. And way more precision if you are throwing at targets, this especially accounts in stream fishing. If you are just throwing out into the blue you will get further with spinning gear. The general consensus is the Zephyr is...
