Re: Phenix Ultra MBX 707MH Blank/Rod feedback!
btw .... how's the training going? Aside never having enough time in between 10-14 hour work days, the biggest challenge will always be finding those that will honor the art. Those who want belts, trophies and tournaments; often become bored or overwhelmed with the physical, mental and spiritual de...

Re: Compare Alphas Ito to Sol.
The big performance difference...to me...is the spool. The tuned rotor makes a noticeable difference. The ito handle is nicer, but the spool is the key difference.
Just buy it...or put an ito spool in a Sol.

Re: PORTING
The main drive shaft on some TD-Zs is also ported. I believe the R, R+ and the Ito. See compared to a standard drive shaft. This one came in a standard TD-Z 103H.. Lucky me :) http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff239/dougl58/Lures%20for%20sale/DSC06227.jpg I'm also noticing different materials... ;)

Re: supertuning a zillion
Before I did any bearings, I'd get an HLC or PE spool. Then upgrade the bearings on those spools. On a standard Zillion, I am going to assume those are frame bearings...and they are not worth upgrading to ABEC7 or 9. They really don't spin very fast. Some folks have had reduced reliability with cera...

Re: Strategy to Limit the Number of Rods in the Boat
Bring 8 - need 2 Bring 2 - need 8  I fish a 14' jon boat in electric only waters...no rod locker. I will always bring: 1. 7'2 LMB864 for senkos or jigs (FC) 2. LC Fat Mini Magic for lipless cranks and shallow/med cranks 3. 7'2" custom Lami frog rod with braid (I also pitch jigs with this) Then ...

Re: Daiwa Zillion Coastal / Type R Upgrades?
4) I have noticed that the Type R feels much smoother than the Coastal during the retrieve. I am assuming that this is due to the fact that the Type R comes with a 4BB handle, so what can I do to make the Coastal feel more like the Type R? Will I have to swap out the handle, or can I just upgrade t...

Re: Daiwa Zillion Coastal / Type R Upgrades?
I have a Daiwa Zillion Coastal and the Zillion Type-R, and had a some questions regarding upgrades. 1) Will I get a noticeable increase in casting performance if I upgrade the Coastal with the Boca ABEC-7 Bearings (spool and sideplate)? What are the bearing ratings used in the stock Coastal? 2) Wha...
