Re: Megabass F5-72XRC-ACL

I have the non crane version, so same thing just not as fancy. I have it paired with a TD-Z and use it for lipless cranks. This rod was one of Amarts favorite jerkbait rods. Thanks for the info Teal! It seems like it would set up perfect for any 3/8-1/2oz moving bait. Given that I’m not a very tall...

Re: Megabass F5-72XRC-ACL

Pssh... To a certain extent they'll use whatever they have to in order to sell rods. You do you, brother. Considering he had a plethora of other JB sticks he could have used and he didnt push this rod, I'd say he had a legit reason to use it as such. MB hasnt had much of an issue selling rods for n...

Re: Can't remove screws on Bass or Die knobs

If the post is spinning you're pretty SOL. Daiwa thread locks the screws from the factory and some just dont want to release. I have cut a slot in the back of the post to allow a slotted screwdriver to grip it and then broken the post screw loose, but it does leave a slot on the back of the knob pos...

Re: If you had a painter willing to paint one TD-Z

Buy a beater, have it painted, ship it off to the wizard Ian and let him work his magic on it. Be for warned, painting a reel is a bit more difficult than just shooting paint. Tolerances can be a PITA. I've had two done, one was a poor job and the other was absolutely stunning, two different painters.

Re: The most UNDER rated..

Kinda funny. I don't really think their are many under rated rods. The cat usually gets out of the bag. Kistler has always been popular, especially when they switched to NFC proprietary blanks. Funny thing is, I kinda think NFC blanks are over rated. At sale prices, very good, but at full retail, n...

Re: More Parabolic Punch Rod

The Megabass X7 Destruction is WAY under powered for any real punching duties. I use mine for C-Rigs and even then it requires a hell of a hookset to overcome the moderate action and meh power it has. The Black Jungle Punch & Swimbait is a great option.

Re: Who is the MOST over rated ?

The majority of my Megabass rods are either Fuji ECS or ACS seats :-s What model did you have? Orochi Gen 1's... I don't recally what the seat was, but it was skinnier than the Fuji's I am used to and prefer. Kind of a glossy plasticy skeletal looking reel seet The Orochi XX Gen 1s have standard Fu...

Re: Daiwa TD-Z ITO problems!

Check that the grey magnet has not come loose from the housing. The magnets are probably working loose and aligning to max brake. scroll about 80% down the page 'Fixing in the Left Side Plate' https://gaspinggurami.wordpress.com/2013/06/24/servicing-daiwa-zillion-100sh/ The indents in the grey magn...

Re: Who is the MOST over rated ?

Daiwa Steez rods as already mentioned several times - I've never actually handled one but the word has been out on that series of rods for a long time it seems. I actually passed on getting a few at cost due to the bad reviews. St. Croix, I'm not really a fan of their rods, but the lower end stuff ...
