Re: Bent spool pin?
The spool engages with the drive shaft through the spool pin. You should replace the pin. Order at The Tackle Trap.

Re: Storing spare spools
I just place spools in tackle boxes. I line the spaces with foam sheeting just for peace of mind and keep bearings clips and pins together with a mini zip lock bags in with the spool.

Re: Best rod to throw monster cranks?
13 Fishing Envy Black 7'11" Crankenstein. Very light weight for the size/power/length. Good parabolic action. Handles 1/2 to 2 oz baits. Great rod for the price.

Re: TDZ disassembling
Those tabs bend ever so slightly out and then press out. This will release the cover. Have to decide if you really need to remove the part. If you are painting it helps. I have never broken one or damaged a reel removing or reinstalling one. You will want to remove the anti-reverse bearing as well. ...

Re: Dipping or Wrapping Reels
I've tested Plastidip as a protectant and color changer. Lasts a long time. Provides good protection for reel paint. Can change color. I have tried the wrap material used on cars. Even with heat it's hard to wrap around the tight curves. I have also tried thermoforming plastic around side pieces whi...

Re: 13 Fishing Crankbait Rods
I was considering the Crankenstein as a deep crank rod. I see its rated as a heavy and it has a pretty wide range of weights (1/2 - 2 oz). Is it a stiff parabolic? I don't want to overpower smaller fish. It's not stiff but it is strong. No problem throwing lighter weight cranks. I have never missed...

Re: 13 Fishing Crankbait Rods
Have not fished both gen 1 and gen 2 rods. I'm using the ENVY BLACK CRANKENSTEIN 7' 11" now for my deep dive work. I have gone through several deep crank rods and this one is great. Light, strong, good parabolic action. I can work all day with this and not feel overworked.

Re: Paint to cover up reel knicks
Plasti Dip Spray is a great reel saver. Mask off, spray a few coats. It protects, last a long time, has a good rubber feel on the palm plate and just peels off when you want to remove. Good to cover up old reels and good to protect new reels. I did a palm plate in white and it has lasted over 1 seas...

Re: 13 Fishing Envy crankbait rod
I'm using the Envy Black 7'11" Crankenstein for big and deep cranking work. Stout rod with good moderate action and very light weight for its size and strength.

Re: Rod for large crankbaits
I used the Cumara 7'11"MH-F Reaction/CB for a long time and really liked it. I found the Dobyns 805CBRM to be heavy to use for long periods. I tried a few others and recently got the 13 Fishing Envy Black Crankenstein 7'11" and love it! lighter. Handles the work well and could throw the traps you ar...
