Re: Alphas SV105 reel foot finish

Nothing wrong with battle scars, anyway. I had paint chip off the palming plate of my zillion tws inexplicably the first time out, but whatever, it's no shelf queen. Got that out of the way and don't have to worry how it looks anymore. It's got character.

Re: Tatula rod

All I can say is that Tatulas are hard to beat. Got 6 different models and each one is top notch in terms of construction and performance for their respective techniques. I really don't think you'll be at all disappointed with that heavy pitching rod. Don't have that one, though. I use the flippin s...

Re: Alternative to a Daiwa millionaire m-ito 103L

Luna? I got a new one for less than 150 shipped from a last minute eBay bid. Felt the need to go with a 1016 spool (requires a longer pinion shaft), a 100mm "Daiwa custom handle", and carbontex, and I'm look at a set of those hedgehog hd spool bearings, but even before all that, it was a great reel,...

Re: what line do you use for poppers?

Braid works great for me on most topwaters. Never really have any trouble at all throwing a binksy or spook. Not wounded spooks, though. I think those'll get tangled in practically anything.

Re: Seagar Red Label

I have some 10# for mag finesse type stuff on an extra fast rod and it's alright. It's invisible and holds a san Diego jam just fine. It's really stiff, though, which some say doesn't matter on a baitcaster, but I disagree. I have to keep the brakes up a little higher than I normally do with braid o...

In my experience it's pretty colorfast, way more so than 832.

Re: Any braids better than Daiwa Samurai?

I really like J braid. Don't know if it's any better than super slick, but they both work great and are way less expensive than samurai.

Re: daiwa millionaire cv-z 203A

I have a Luna 103l and love it for cranking, deep and shallow. I got carbontex, a 1016 spool, and one of those 100mm Daiwa handles with the Eva knobs and that really made it an outstanding stump puller of a reel. Very refined and connected feel and plenty of power. Love the way it palms, helps balan...

Re: T3 gear swap

All depends on the T3 model. For the MX/FX/Mago/Air you can inter change gear sets( main and pinion) The 1016 series has its own different set up.They have plastic sleaved pinion bearings. As a result the pinion diameter is different to the afore mentioned reel ranges. The 1016 will then require the...

T3 gear swap

Anyone know if an 8.1 gear set will fit in a 6.3 T3, or is 7.1 all I'm gonna get?

Thanks.

Re: Tatula vs Tatula XT

The tatula uses higher density carbon, which should equate to a lighter, crisper, more sensitive blank, and alconite guides, which are a step up from AlO2. Also, I prefer the tatulas reel seat because it is more comfortable, especially with the larger reels you'd probably want to use on a heavy rod ...

Re: Majorcraft Corzza

That ms-x 65ml couldn't be better balanced. The balance point is somewhere near the center of the reel, and that's with a 5.7 oz ss sv. The whole combo weighs less than my td Luna.
