Re: Why JDM reels over USDM reels-Just thinking out loud
I wouldn't let the no warranty bother you. I've been buying high end JDM reels for over 10 years and have never had a situation where I wished there was a warranty. Come to think of it, I've never used a warranty on a domestic reel either.

Re: watching your line
All the above.
I do a lot of jig fishing and am a big line watcher, watching for both hits on the fall and to get a sense for the hardness of the bottom. When the jig hits a hard bottom, the line will jump slightly before it goes slack, with a soft bottom it just sort of goes slack.

Custom K2 Phenix 715 barely inched ahead of my NRX 803. Both are awesome for my style of jig fishing.

Re: Berkley NanoFil
I tried some 12# on a baitcaster for jig. Casts well, very sensitive. Didn't experience any line digs, but didn't use it very long. Extremely coily, which I cannot stand as I'm a line watcher. Took it off and went back to Samurai.

Re: Anyone else making the shift to longer rods?
I've kinda gone full circle over the years from 6'6" to up to 8' ft and for a time most of my rods were 7'1". I mainly fish jigs and liked the longer length for hooksetting, but sometimes wondered if I was unintentionally working the jig differently with the longer rod. Last fall I picked up an NRX ...

Re: Stren Original vs Sufix Siege (stretch)
Last year I was using braid pretty much exclusively with jigs but for some reason was having a hard time keeping fish hooked. Tried a couple flouro's but didn't like the way they lay on the spool. Picked up a spool of 14 lb clear Trilene XL and had probably the best fall I've had ever in terms of si...

Re: question for power pro users
I've used 30 lb red on a bc without digin problems. The last red spool I used bled really bad all over the reel so I switched to Samurai.
