Re: BPS 7'10 crankin' stick any opinions
i've used the crankin sticks over the years, and am using an older 6'6" mh for spinnerbaits. i've had good luck with them. i've had a couple of the newer ones with the cork-covered lockdown foregrip and they didn't work for me. something with the shape of the cork makes me hold the rod a certain way...

Re: ipt - 26 vs 29 real world difference...
my suggestion.....find a used lh revo premier. the 6.4:1 ipt is within an inch of the 7:1 carbonlite, and the feel is very similar between all of the reels.

Re: ipt - 26 vs 29 real world difference...
it probably doesn't make a difference, but i have had plenty of days where i couldn't catch up with a fish. a couple of extra inches would've tightened the line just enough for a hookset. i generally like a reel with 25-26" ipt in the winter though, i'm pretty much casting this time of year and not ...

Re: carbonlite gear swap 7:1
sorry i failed to mention i did this to a rh reel. you could still do the swap with the brass pq gears it would just bump the reel up in weight about a 1/3 of an ounce.

Re: CarbonLite™ Baitcast Reel
I much prefer the old over the new in this case. I do not like the smaller wider profile of the new and the handle knobs are just way to small. Weight and extra bearing count means nothing if not comfortable to hold. I believe they actually took a step backwards with the new Carbonlite, just my opi...

Re: carbonlite gear swap 7:1
yes it can be done. you gotta have the pinion gear from a 7:1 pro qualifier and you can use a 7:1 drive gear from the revo premier or the heavier brass gear from the pq. you can put in the heavier drag stack from the premier or pro qualifier. cost will probably be around $40-45, i can't really remem...

so johnny are these rods stiffer like the other abu rods? could the 7'1" med/mod replace a 7'2" mh steez flexlite or would it be a little weak for 12'+ cranks?

Re: CarbonLite™ Baitcast Reel
i've got one (and 3 of the pro qualifier tournaments)that i've been using since they came out 2 years ago and have had no problems at all with them. i don't necessarily agree with the comment that they feel unrefined compared to daiwa. i was using a couple of steez 103ha for spinnerbaits & shallow-m...
