Re: Shimano Reel: Suggestions To Purchase From. And On Brai

Just because Amazon doesn't seel it directly you shouldn't over look it.http://www.amazon.com/Shimano-Stradic-ST4000FJ-Ball-Bearing/dp/B005H0MQ3M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1364664058&sr=8-1&keywords=stradic+fj They use line capacity for the model, kind of weird. A 2500 is an 8/140 with 6:0/1 gearing. J...

Thanks for help.

Hard to remember how old, but probably around 5 yrs, or so.

It's a Shimano Stradic Aero 1000.

Regards,
Bob
That roller should spin freely. Take the line roller apart, clean and lube it and it should work fine.

Re: Sr. Citizen Question Re New Spinning Reel ?

You are basically looking for a Shimano with a propulsion spool. A 7ft rod with power selected by the lure your casting. Berkely Nanofil or power pro super slick 8 depending on what you like. If you want a new reel I think a last generation Symetre or the current gen would do fine. $99 retail. The S...

I too have a personal best from a very cold day. It turns a miserable day into a great one in one cast.

My Greatest Creation.

I feel like my whole life of tinkering, painting and learning how things work through trial and error came together in this one moment. A friend of mine convinced me to repaint his Stradic FJ. I was going to make a work log of the journey but I kind of forgot in a fit of productivity. So here, the c...
