Re: Squarebill line choice?

There's no doubt that one can feel more with a flourocarbon line and slowing the rise of the lure can often times lead to more strikes. I try to keep that in mind.

Re: Which Fluorocarbon for Suspending Jerkbaits

Not all suspending jerkbaits are true suspenders. Some are slow floaters, some are slow sinkers. Some needs that water temp to be under 50 F or something to suspend. There's a lot of ways to tweak a suspending jerkbait and using a flourocarbon line is just another way to do it.

Re: Bantam is this possible?

Late into discussion, but this sort of thing has on occassion recurs with the smaller 1000 and 750 size reels. I have seen the misprinted information leading myself to believe they were aluminum frames and always found out they were graphite frames in the end.

Re: Spool Diameters

I used to think that bigger was better, but it kind of really comes down to the entire system. At one time I had spooled up a 750 Sahara reel with 4# Yozuri Hybrid line. I was thinking that I wasn't going to get as near the same performance on the same rod that on previous week was matched with a 10...

I use braid tied to a clip. Works just fine for me.

Re: LC vs. Yo-zuri sashimi

LOL. IMO It's that ribbed like body of those Sashimi lures that seems to make a lot of difference. They seem to displace water a little more, or more different feel.

Re: Beginner needs help with braid on baitcaster

Spiderwire Stealth is about the braid that's probably easiest to learn to not backlash crazy from. The line has a natural self adhesion, a sort of self anti backlash. Sufix Performance braid is also an easy braid to learn how to use. It has more body so that in itself, is a good prevention of spool ...

Re: Line Conditioner

The negative effect is that the flourocarbon line will lose the light refraction index. Then again, that's not really the only quality for it's application.

Re: Favorite Gear ratio for Walking the Dog

I started with spinning reels. They have higher ipt's than baitcasters. So now with baitcasters, I'll say fastest gear with fastest ipt will work better for me. :big grin:

I used to run some Yozuri's that ran between 9-15 ft. Alas lost them in the rock piles. ](*,)

Re: walking topwaters...does it really make a difference?

I like the pictures Bob. I'm wondering if you've ever checked different copy's of the same model to see if they sit in the water the same way? The thing that surprises me most is that how different size lures of the same type do end up sitting in the water differently. Just like how the Spook Puppy...

Re: Do you switch hands during casting/winding?

It's not an issue with switching hands for me. It's just merely about handle grip position. It can change depending on rod type used, per say like musky or salmon type rods.

Re: walking topwaters...does it really make a difference?

I started with the Zara Spooks and Excalibur versions, so they've stucked with me longer. From what I've seen is when the fish are short striking and swiping only at the lures, it's makes a difference to use a slighty different profile lure. Usually the better detailing makes a difference. Other thi...
