Re: ZPI Bearings vs. Boca Bearings
Hey Guys, Thanks for all the input. Placed an order to Tackle Trap on Saturday to try out the "ZR" bearings. I know to replace the spool bearing and the sideplate bearing (non-drag side). Do you guys leave all the other bearings in your reels stock? Depends on the age of the reel. If it's a new ree...

Re: Dock skipping setup
I ended up with a Daiwa Steez EX100 HS. Put CarbonTex drag, 8.1 brass gears, SV103 spool and have a CF handle on the way. 12# fluoro and stuck it on my GLX843 MBR. I may try the G1 spool when they return to stock, but for now, I am impressed. https://www.dropbox.com/s/73uyeadwxtpglyq/Photo%20Sep%202...

Re: Tutula SV TW review... what did you mean?
My guess: The new Tat will cover most everything from weightless 4" plastics up to frogs and 1oz jigs. You're not going to use 65# braid to toss a weightless fluke and get decent results. Same as throwing a frog or 1oz jig with 8# fluorocarbon. The right line for the right technique will make this r...

Re: ZPI Bearings vs. Boca Bearings
I have had two sets of Boca Orange Seals. I ended up getting rid of them due to noise. I had to put so much oil in them to make them quiet, that I killed any distance I would have gained over the stock bearings. I have been using the Hedgehog ZR bearings for almost 2 years now with excellent results...

Daiwa Steez 100EX info
I just recently purchased a nice Steez 100 EX HS. All blacked out too. Problem is, I cannot find much info on this reel. TT has the XS review, but doesn't make mention of the HS or H model. Either I'm not searching correctly or there just isn't much info around. Can someone tell me the year it was i...

Re: Looking for a BFS set up
I'm loving my G. Loomis GLX852 JWR. I just took a 100 sized reel and put a BFS spool in it along with a tun and some ZPI bearings. 7# FC Sniper and I can throw a 3" senko like a boss. If you have a 50 sized Shimano reel, there are two bfs spools forsale here at the forums. https://www.dropbox.com/s/...
Re: Reel Love
Pretty much any Shimano 100D series Core/Chronarch/Metanium for me. Essentially they are all the same with a few differences. If I had to pick one, it'd have to be my Metanium V2. I've done a lot to this reel to make it the gem it is, but it's probably what I'd say would be the last to go.

Could be anywhere from about 10-50 dollars worth of parts honestly. It should be an easy fix.

I didn't know that about the 8 gear being brass. That has me thinking.

Re: HOW TO post pictures
I am getting ready to post a reel shootout/comparison... Having some questions about photobucket/3rd party hosting... Does it cost? Will I be able to upload/resize/post from my phone's camera? Not necessary for super high quality, just need some evidence/proof photos. I use an app on my iPhone 7+ c...

Thanks guys. Sounds like I'm on the right track with the reel and my 843 MBR.
