Re: Bantam1, can we get a flipping reel please?

I would be very interested in an updated 50/70 size. Would like to see an aluminum framed, MGL spooled, micro geared, 50/70 size reel. Actually wouldn't even care if it was a composite frame like the Chronarch MGL, still very impressed with my first Shimano, just wish I could somehow hybridize the ...

Let us know how that rod is. I MIGHT need something with a little more backbone than my K2 714.

Re: 8ft or longer swimbait rod with a detachable handle

swimbait rod for swimbaits. I'm not looking for a glass rod. I was just using the rod as an example for creating a 2 piece rod. The Legend Glass is sweet for cranks but, would not be on my radar for a swimbait rod. You could get a decent MHX blank and create a handle in a similar fashion to the vid...

Re: 8ft or longer swimbait rod with a detachable handle

Custom. I did my cranking rod as a 2 piece. Comes in at 9'3". I wasn't going for points in the cosmetic department but, i took the handle to a broken rod and I inserted it into a Legend Glass blank. I wrapped some thread on the butt of the blank and ensured a tight fit by expoying around the handle ...

Re: Real Question

Yes, it is a definite new trend. I wish I had picked up a 5.5 Zillion TWS when they were blow out cheap (like $125) because the had such a big wide spool the IPT was like 24" which is still fast enough for me to fish spinnerbaits and chatterbaits. On the other hand, reels are all so well built now,...

Re: Bait Monkey is F***ing Me Over!!! HELP ME!

I feel you. I always look to improve my rods. I went from a Steez AGS to an Archangel to a custom K2. Now, I'm looking to upgrade that. I'm not as bad with reels. I actually just "downgraded" a Steez SV TW to an SV 105 to help fund a new rod...maybe. The worst part is that I know the equipment is mo...

Re: Spiral wrapped guides and fluoro

Hogsticker2 wrote:All my sticks are spiral wrapped except one. I use nothing but fluoro, with zero issue. What fluoro are you using? Are you throwing baits that twist the line?
This is big. I remember using a weightless worm that twisted up my line. Constant problems until I let all the line out and reeled it in.

Re: Spiral wrapped guides and fluoro

I never had a problem with spiral wrapped guides and FC. I have 3 setups that have FC and spiral wrapped guides and I have no problems that I could blame the guide layout on. I skip and pitch and no problems.

Re: Shimano Loomis Conquest rods

Does the MBR taper make them more parabolic.. Are these supposed to be moving bait rods? No, they are a classic "Mag Bass" taper that Loomis has been using for years. The rods are all considered a "fast" taper but they aren't technique specific like many other lines of Loomis rods. They are definit...

Harder to backlash.

Another note is that ithe can be had cheaper than the Zillion SV while being about 85% of what the Zillion is.

I own both. The Tatula is more user friendly. The Zillion casts further and is a little more free.

Re: Backlash proof reel

An SV spooled Daiwa. Nice control and handles the wind great without getting robbed for distance.
